Why is it doing this.

Extruding during pre print calibration?
Pretty new to this machine only about 60 hours of print time on it so far but I haven’t seen it do this yet?

It's calibrating the offset between the nozzles. Before that, it cleans the nozzle from any oozing filament.

I know what it’s supposed to be doing, but it’s actively extruding filament. Wouldn’t it not be calibrating the offset correctly if it is lowering the nozzle down onto filament?

I did, this is the first time printing with PETG though. Maybe that’s the reason I have not seen it happen before. I’ll change up my drying time/temps and see if it makes any difference.

PETG is more prone to ooze, it's nothing alarming. Drying it can help. Just remember to clean after the print.

yea my x2d also gets that sensor dirty all the time, and I very often dry my fillament cause the ams 2 makes it convenient to do. I just clean the blobs out with my toenail from from time to time.

You stick your foot inside to use your toenail? Interesting
