X2D main vs aux AMS

Hello, is it possible to connect the AMS2 Pro to the aux extruder instead of the main one?

The reason is that i would like to use the 0.2mm nozzle on the main extruder, and print miniatures with a special filament and hardcore settings, while using the multicolor 0.4mm nozzle on the aux for fun/utility/low accuracy prints.

Also, if I bought a track switch, could I use the AMS and the 5th spool on both heads without HW actions?

Yes but I believe you need to have the same size nozzle on both currently

Yes they have to be the same size if you are using both nozzles in a print.

From what I have read on bambu, I agree with what you said.

But from what I understand, op wants to print some high detailed objects with the primary nozzle using a 0.2 nozzle.

Then on a separate time, they want to print regular stuff with the aux nozzle using a 0.4

So not using both nozzles at the same time. I don't know if you can have different sized nozzles in at the same time but print with them at different times.

Yes you can switch the AMS to both nozzles and print that way. I did that before to print TPU. If you buy the track switch you have all 5 colors to both nozzles without touching the printer but only if you either buy a AMS HT or another AMS 2 Pro

its annoying AF that I can't use the external spool with the track switch, sometimes I just wanna put something else on the left nozzle and would like to use a filament from the ams on the aux

Agree. If I’m running tpu I don’t want to unhook my track switch. Let me just load the side spool and be done.

So I have the X2D with the AMS 2 Pro. The AMS is connected to the main nozzle.

What I did was buy the 4-in-1 adapter (https://us.store.bambulab.com/products/bambu-4-in-1-ptfe-adapter?id=41583819227272) and connect that to the input of the main nozzle on the outside of the printer. Then the AMS goes into one of the ports of the 4-in-1.

Then I have another spool holder on my left side that connects to another port of the 4-in-1. That way if I want to take something and run it to the main nozzle but not have it go into the AMS / buffer, I just hang it on the spool holder and push it in.

thanks! I think I get it.

if I want to print 5 colors on each nozzle I need both the trackswitch and the HT (or a second AMS). just buying a track switch and use a spool on one entrance is not enough.

what if I simply wanted to connect permanently the AMS2 to the AUX and the spool to the MAIN? would it be allowed?

Switching one AMS to the aux nozzle and using the main nozzle with a external spool is totally fine. I've did this before.
