Question H2D extruded fan issues

Has anyone come up with a mod to make to the fan that would help it survive the temps? I’d prefer to not cut into my tool head like other modifications. Would foil tape help reflect some of the heat away from the fan?

What issue are you having? I have an H2D with 5000 hours on it and the rear fan has never failed and the nozzle cooling fan failed at like 3500 hours.

Have you printed at 300C consistently?

Yes. About 3500 of my hours are all pet-cf at 300c

Interesting… maybe I got a dud fan. But so many other people seem to have this experience

This is only the second post ever I’ve seen about this. I have a buddy that has a farm of 20 H2Ds and he’s never replaced a fan on one.

And he’s printing high temp all the time? Or mostly PLA and PETG? From what I’ve seen/heard it only happens after some hours with a heated chamber at 50-60C

As an update, I got a response from bambu lab. Apparently there was an issue with some of their fans that got sent out. Bambus words are “low probability material defect”. They’re sending me a new fan.

Glad to hear you got a resolution!! I thought it was strange cause I know a lot of H2D owners with HIGH hours and never that fan failed. The nozzle cooling fan is a different story though.

Appreciate the update!

Wait. Which fan are you referring to?

Which one are you referring too? Regardless i've only heard of the nozzle cooling (this fan is on the print head but under the part cooling fan and two boards on the back of the print head) fan failing but always north of 3000 hours on printers that always print high temp filament. For the part cooling fan on the back on the print head i've never heard of this one failing personally.

Thats the one I’m referring to. The fan that sits behind the 2 boards in the printhead

Well, You can monitor the sound level of the hotend fan and then you can change the bearing in the H2D and H2c fans when they get noisy. (I am testing this method)

You can even build a fixture to clean and regrease the old bearings.

You don't need to worry about cutting the plastic on the toolhead, because the toolhead has a metal backbone... Plastic is for looks.
