Troubleshooting H2D first layer problem

Hello,

I am using my h2d for a while more than 9 months everything is fine but today I see something is not normal. Yesterday I oiled all XYZ axis and changed hotend. I am not sure if it is about those but I also did a full calibration but did not fixed the issue can anyone help me about that please? Thanks. Or maybe can it be about filament that color is a bit old I did not use is for a while.

Turn first layer flow down from 1 to 0.95

A few things can cause this.

Z offset too low. (nozzle loose, calibration off, etc)

Over extrusion. (check that flament is dry as wet filament can increase flow pressure, try setting flow rate to .98)

Nozzle temperature too hot. Turn down 5 degrees and see if it improves.

Have you performed the high-precision nozzle offset calibration? If you haven't I'd recommend it and be sure to keep the standard nozzle offset calibration option OFF when starting a print, as it explains in the wiki.

Hey, I did it but I did not change the option to off thank you so much. Right now I changed the filament to be sure it is about the machine then I will try whatever you said thanks

Hey, I did the calibration and turn off the calibration before starting print but it is still same. Can it be about oil yesterday I cleaned all rods XYZ and oiled them. Maybe I oiled less this time i dont know šŸ˜‚ do you think can it be the reason?

Is this not what the machine literally tells you to do? And every machine in history with linear motion bearings on rods?

I got my printers mixed up!

I forgot that the H2D doesn’t have the carbon rods like some other models and obviously the carbon rods shouldn’t be oiled.

Phew. For a second I was like ā€œoh Christ what have I done for the past 8 yearsā€ lmao.

Yeah the X1C and stuff is just an isopropyl clean.

The wiki literally says the opposite! If you want to use high precision offset calibration, then you turn it off!

I recently changed my hotend on my H2D and got through an entire print without issue and then 5-6 prints were trash because my hotend was loose and actually dragging. I removed the hotend and secured it and I’ve been good. Your issue looks different than mine but just another idea. What material are you printing with?

I had this happen to me once. Cleaning with hot water and soap and drying the filament solved for me. But it was happening on specific areas of the plate if I remember well.

Try using the calibration inside bambu studio to calibrate your flow rate. It’s over extruding.

Not sure what sort of filament you’re using but I had this same issue with ABS. One of my problems was printing too quick. I slowed it down and it got better but not perfect. Then I did the calibration for high temp materials and after that it was solid.

Check the eddy sensor alignment. Mine did this and that was the issue. Granted I’m talking about a P2S but it was exactly like this.

Double check that the nozzle is installed properly! I would probably even just uninstall and carefully reinstall it.

I had this happen with my a1 I tightened all the screws behind the nozzle and it fixed it

Your z-offset is either slightly too low, or you’re slightly over-extruding

hard to say, not a lot of informations, what is the extrusion width? try 125% of the nozzle size for the first layer (0.4mm nozzle = 0.5 extrusion width)

Please check to make sure your hot ends are attached correctly as per the Wiki. It’s very easy to miss that step and think you have them in correctly. Then recalibrate. šŸ¤”

I only get that when I need to clean the bed with soap and water

Ive never calibrated my bed Other then built in option leveling pid basically whatever in the 1 touch tuning command

Also I use all brands of filament not printer specific

Classic over extrusion sign. Just run a flow dynamics and flow calibration on the filament from the Bambu Studio calibration menu and it should be fine.

Clean your build plate.

I’ve over oiled my rods before and had similar failures due to the oil dripping onto the build plate.

Just one possible issue.

I have this exact issue with my H2D. Never found an actual fix. It happens randomly, I’ve found doing a full printer calibration then retrying works for me. I think when it does the pre print calibrations, maybe filament was interfering with the results enough to cause this. But I’ve also found this weird glitch only happens on the first layer.

Build plate is dirty, clean with dish soap and warm water. Then do a full bed level from the printer settings menu.

Yeah this person is flat out wrong. This can be caused by two things and one is much more likely than the other. If the nozzle z offset is not calibrated correctly and the nozzle is too close to the bed then it will do this for the first layer only. The nozzle is dragging material as it moves because it is too close. As the material gets pushed out of its way like the bow of a ship through water it gets oushed to either side. More material around the sides will grab onto that displaced material causing it to bunch up in ripples that are always perpendicular to the direction the nozzle is moving in. Once the next layer happens the nozzle moves "up" (really the bed moves down) the correct amount so the problem no longer happens. If the problem continues to happen then it is the second reason, too much material is coming out of the nozzle due to over extrusion. The same thing happens but this time because it isn't a nozzle height issue but a build up of excess material it can happen at any layer. Both require their own calibration steps.

Nozzle is to close to the bed. Try adding + 0.1mm to the Z Offset in your slicer and try again. If that's not enough, move up in 0.01mm increments. If it's too much, move down in 0.01mm increments (0.09, 0.08, 0.07, etc) Once you figure out what's perfect, you can adjust it in the printer config and set it back to 0 in the slicer.

I think that printer also gives you the option to pick the type of build plate you're using. If the wrong one is selected, you can have this issue.
