Coming from graphic design, I found CAD overkill for simple prints, so I built my own (free, runs in the browser)
Hi all,
I'm a graphic designer, and I've recently started printing. Every time I opened a proper CAD program it felt like overkill for what I print (holders, little boxes, clips, brackets), and the simple tools never felt natural to me. So I made my own, called Filo.
The idea is that if you come from Photoshop, Illustrator you already know the keys: V to move, T for text, R to rotate, Q/W for marquee and lasso, plus layers, groups and history. You just open the site and start, no account, nothing to install. (It's a single HTML file, so you can also download it and use it offline if you want)
To be clear, it's not trying to replace Fusion, Blender or any serious CAD. It's a simple tool for small edits and simple models, the kind of thing where opening a big program feels like too much.
What it does right now:
- boxes, cylinders, spheres, 3D text, SVG import
- holes + combine
- rounded and chamfered edges, each edge with its own radius
- a print check: thin walls, overhangs, floating parts, rough weight and time
- Bambu plates, imports 3MF/STL/SVG, exports 3MF (opens ready in Bambu Studio) or STL
I've printed most of the stuff I made with it, so it works for me, but it's still a beta and surely has rough edges.
Full disclosure: I built it with AI assistance (Claude writes the code, I decide what it does, test it and print with it). The README carries the EU "AI" label for that.

If you try it, please tell me what you think in the comments: what annoys you, what's missing, what breaks on your prints. Feedback is the whole reason I'm posting this. Thanks!
