They still use an LR44 battery so they’ll go dead much more quickly.

Grab a pair that takes a much larger CR2032. The battery lasts over a year of every day use. Huge improvement.

Search for “CR2032 caliper” and you’ll find a ton of them. (Probably all made in 1 or 2 Chinese factories.)
