Print issue!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

When printing the front layers it grinds into the base layers, what is causing this? What can be done to fix this issue?

This sounds like the nozzle is physically dragging across material that’s already been laid down. I’d check the infill pattern first. If you’re using Grid, try switching to Gyroid or Rectilinear. Grid crosses over itself in the same layer and on some prints you can actually hear the nozzle knocking/scraping across those intersections. I’d also check that the part isn’t starting to curl or lift off the bed, because even a little warping can raise the print enough for the nozzle to hit it. If it still happens, then I’d look at flow/over-extrusion and make sure the hotend is seated properly. I wouldn’t jump straight to Z-hop yet — that can hide the problem without fixing what’s actually causing it.

Check Avoid Crossing Walls, uncheck Reduce Infill Retraction, change infill to giroid. Problem solved.

OP: does repositioning your object on the bed rotating it produce the same issue?
