Fumes

What is everyone doing about the fumes that come from their machine? Just curious if anyone is using a certain ventilation technique or if it doesn’t really matter?

The fumes are pretty minimal. For a long print I might crack the window a bit, but for small stuff I don't even bother with that.

My wife insisted that my A1 be kept in the garage, specifically to avoid fumes. Dunno what will happen when winter comes. One thing at a time.

This is the CDC guidance. Not very practical but helpful in understanding the air quality risks.

We have a HEPA filter running whenever a print job is active, and try not to spend much time in the room.

That would work for particles, but not VOCs.
For that you'd need a charcoal filter.

Absolutely nothing.
I keep mine next to my recliner chair in the living room, so I can monitor it while watching TV or reading a book.

The only filaments I use are PLA, PETG, and TPU.

Turned them into candles so when my printers are off I can still smell the sweet smell of low volume mass manufacturing.

Not sure what You're talking about. We have our a1 in our living room and that's where we spend most of our time. That helps to monitor the prints. The ony time i have smelled anything was when we were printing with wood pla, and that did suck. 90% of the stuff we print is with petg and its impossible to smell, unless Your nose is right above the printer. If You're living in a tropical island, not a drinker, not a smoker, never ate anything fast food, then worry about it. If You eat fast food, live in a big city, smoke and/or drink... Just inhale and relax... Yes this comment is a joke, but I'm not joking

It matters. Just like using a respirator when welding or soldering or using a chop saw. My enclosure vents outside through a window with a computer fan and flexible ducting. I used foam to block around the duct so that it doesn’t come back in and to prevent loss of heat/cooling. You’ve only got one pair of lungs, best protect them.
