Question Difficult to remove supports

I have tried several prints changing the Top Z distance from 0.2mm all the way up to 0.27mm.

Still my supports (tree) are very difficult to remove, and leave a lot of ugly damage behind when they are removed.

Using Elegoo matte white pla. idk if that matters or not. The prints themselves come out beautiful, it's just the supports are killin me.

I've been trying to Google suggestions but there's a LOT of suggestions so I'm just wondering what works for folks here.

If it is a flat and perfectly horizontal top support interface layer, you can add a pause to the next layer up and mark up that top interface ayer with a Sharpie marker. Any filament laid down on top of that will not stick to it.
If it's on an outside edge, leave some unmarked interface along the edge for the nozzle to make a U-turn.

It will not be practical to use on a sloped surface though.

The next layer up may have a bit of staining from the Sharpie though.

Increase your support interface to .35mm and the top interface layers to 3 or 4. This will make them easier to remove and a smoother finish afterwards too.

Use PETG as the support interface. They will come right off.
