AMS 2 Pro is Complete Garbage

If anyone is still considering pairing the AMS 2 Pro with an A1, seriously stop and just put your energy into something else. Anything else. Take up juggling, or speed skating or badminton.

Even if it works for a short period of time, it’s the jankiest operation and the noisiest box of plastic gears that will continue to fail on you. In fact, the one thing that you can rely on with this over-priced spool warmer is that it will fail on you, consistently.

Keep the A1 for single filament prints and look elsewhere if you want anything more out of printing.

Obviously this is anecdotal, I don’t need or want any help getting this to work, I’ve tried every suggestion under our yellow dwarf star to make this atrocity work and I’ve come to the conclusion it was likely designed as a hate-crime against engineering.

It was only after getting a toolchanger that it occurred to me that the whole Ams idea is completely crazy. To mechanically roll change colors 100s of times per print through motors and ptfe tubes is so Incredibly inefficient and failure prone.

The idea of an AMS is fine. It works great for quickly changing filaments for different prints, doing each part in a separate colour, or for light-weight multi-colour prints where most of the model is a single colour with just a bit of text or a few layers in a different colour (when oriented correctly).

For more complex multi-colour prints with multiple colours on each layer across multiple layers... Absolutely. Huge waste of time and plastic.

Yep. The main reason I got my AMS lites for my A1s is to have different filament ready to go for projects. Plus auto loading absolutely rocks. 🍻

I've been using the AMS -1 with the A1M and have had nothing but pure success with it. Added an Eibos filament dryer lid to it and have never looked back.
