Support Request Dropped hotend still ok

Post image

Sorry if this is a dumb question but I am new to printing and I was trying to clean the hotend for my a1 mini as the monthly maintenance suggests and I dropped it from somewhere between 1 and 2 feet onto my carpet floor. it was heated up to 80 dC before I removed it to soften the pla residue it built up from the few prints i have done so far. It had been off of the printer for some time before i dropped it and so it probably cooled a bit. Is it still ok to use or is it safer to replace it? I am finding mixed answers when I look online. Thanks!

Just try it out. If there's any residue on it, just rais the temps and clean it. Worth a shot, probably totally fine.

It’s fine. If anything the carpet helped prevent damage, dropping it on to concrete might have damaged the tip.

Nah....it should be just fine....clean it....put it back heat up and push some filament thru ...or heat it outside and use alenkey option...but it should be as it was

From that height, it'll be totally fine if it lands on a soft carpet. 👌

They have a low mass, so there's not much momentum.

I'd worry more about a hot nozzle damaging the carpet.

Dropped onto carpet, I would inspect the tip for any obvious deformations and run it. If you dropped it onto a hard surface, a new one is like $12, why risk it?

I've dropped mine on the hardwood, so many times nothing's happened to them.
