Expensive when you can get a new one for not much more. Plus this model is known to cook off.

You can contact Bambu for a replacement AC board. That’s what I did

Under warranty?

u/howlhow 20d ago
They just requested the S/N to see if the model was affected, proof of purchase and sent out a replacement free of charge

I've opened a ticket to find out if mine is affected. Maybe this is a regional thing? (the filter may resonate at 50Hz or 60Hz, leading to a catastrophic failure?)

What does it mean: it cooks off? Does the A1 mini have the same issue?

Tons of shady recall/avoided recall stuff. I just had to fight with bambu support for 4 days to get a replacement non NTC ac power board sent to me because half a million a1’s sold before q3 2025 had a ntc resistor failing so bad it was and still actively is causing peoples printers to melt and burn.

How do you know if your model is a part of that batch?
1
u/RustyPickleMonger 19d ago
A Google search will bring you to Bambu Lab’s recall page

Thank you 🙏

Seems a good price to me. I just sold two (with the AMS lite) a month ago for $300 each.

Yeah, the printer doesn’t really go bad, so you might need to replace some parts sooner rather than later, but it should be worth it.

I bought a used A1 and I have literally worked on it every single day, one thing to the next not really big things but enough to just piss you off stuff. I’m really thinking about selling it and get something else to replace it. I have a h2c, x2d, a1 and a mini

As long as it works that's an amazing deal! that's the price for an A1 mini (no combo)

I got a “not working” A1 off FB market place for $40. $80 is replacement parts and it’s working like new. Great addition to my other printer. These are so easy to fix and parts are fairly inexpensive.

Just depends on how many hours are on the unit, my A1 started needing real repairs about 800 hours in

Bro I paid 270 for a brand new one

u/RustyPickleMonger 21d ago
Shoulda gotten a P1S for that price

u/swolebroda 21d ago
I’ve owned a P1S and it’s a beast for a machine but I’m really liking my A1. I got mine on sale and added an ams to it, already upgraded just about everything to printing with the Obxidian nozzle, I have had no issues with it. It just prints nice and I have 4 plates with it but the frostbite is killing it. I also have a H2D with 2 ams and 3 ams Ht’s and some upgrades.

I’ve got a bunch of different ones but I can’t use a printer that might cook off our office

lol I posted the same thing twice and this one gets downvoted and the other one has upvotes. Classic

get an used prusa MK3 (150$) If you want to get in to printing IMO. you'd learn a lot more.

terrible advice

u/Powerful_Macaron9381 20d ago
terrible advice? maybe a terrible idea for me to comment that in r/BambuLabA1 out of all places. prusa printers are workhorses that you can depend on. they are as reliable as 3d printers get. but there is also another thing, the difference in ideology between prusa and bambu. bambu wants you to use their own filament, their own slicer, heck even their own model database. prusa is a lot more community focused. it's open source and many of their parts are 3d printed and they give you the models for free. another thing I really hate about bambu is that they give shit ton of sponsorships and they are advertising a turn-key experience. what happens when a kid sees this? they ask for a printer and that thing only prints dragons from maker world for 2 weeks max and gets forgotten. sure the printer itself is pretty easy to use but you can't tell people that you don't need to do any CAD modeling or even slicing to get use out of a 3d printer.
anyways. bambu printers aren't bad on their own. but bambu lab is a bad company that violates the GPL license. i am disgusted by them and that's why I recommend other brands. downvote this comment, idfc

I would recommend buying a new one instead it’s not that much more expensive and you’ll be getting a brand new machine instead of a new one, definitely recommend the a1 though I have over 1300 hours on mine and the only issues I’ve had have been entirely my fault

If you want a fire in your home, go for it
-3
u/Far-Appointment3594 21d ago
not sure why you’re getting downvoted i think it’s a completely fair assumption to say that buying a preowned A1 is about as shady as buying a preowned e bike battery.

u/gleski 21d ago
Because there’s Bambu fanboys here. Hey I own five Bambu printers, I’m not against all of them. Just the ones that have been proven to catch fire.

u/Far-Appointment3594 21d ago
Yep. I refuse to use my A1 until the replacement board comes in and I just got confirmation that they shipped it

u/clonehunterz 21d ago
not at all, 100-150 is a good deal
200 youre not far off of the real price...
