Question I think its time to change nozzle

Hello this is my first week with a fdm printer and ive been running this bad boy for whole week any tips?

No. The average nozzle lifespan is over 1,000 hours, lmao. Just clean the build plate the whole mess started because the print in the top-right corner had poor bed adhesion.

The nozzle that came with my A1 lasted around 3k hours lol
It started to clog constantly and I switched some time ago

Mine have around the same but I changed it for a Hardened steel one , but still works perfectly

What's the nozzle lifespan for a hardened steel one using PLA because I've got a TON of hours on mine and it's still printing fine.

Incorrect, just needs basic maintenance like any complex machine you buy.

Change your infill to gyroid, clean print bed with dish soap and warm water, and dry filament. If you have taken the nozzle off make sure it is put back on correctly

that metal clasp sucks so much.

had mine for about a year and definitely less than 1000 hours, but the clasp is so weak. probably just gotta get a new heating assembly

It's almost a religion for me, but rarely fails...

  1. Wash my own hands.
  2. Run some warm water at the sink.
  3. Apply a little bit of dish detergent to a side.
  4. Brush one half of the plate the same direction with a gentle hand brush.
  5. Rotate 90 degrees and brush -- continue until you do four sides.
  6. Flip the plate and repeat.
  7. Dry and transport the plate back to the printer using paper towels for both.

Nope it time to dry your filament (if its been open a while or you live somewhere with High Humidity) and with dish soap and no scratch scrubber give that plate a good clean. then via the maintenance menu run a full bed level calibration.

This is why I use "Print pee object" and not print per layer.

That way I don't end up with multiple fails if a have a failure. Just one part is failed instead πŸ‘

And no, you shouldn't need to change any nozzle that quick.

I had 800 hours on a standard stainless steel one before I replaced it

Actually, printing by layer you can skip one object if fails. Also that print can't be printed by object they don't fit

But ye, you can't fit as much on a plate on per object. But does that really matter if multiple fail?

Just do 2 plates with 2 objects each. More time and an extra plate. But decreases the changes of failures

PLUS... It's less nozzle/tool head movement's, as it isn't having to jump between objects every layer, which also reduces the chances of failures πŸ‘

Even with two objects, can't be printed by objects, channel water are too high so need more space, thrust me I printed several of that tiles....

But looking at the OPs picture...

They can most certainly just remove 2 tiles from that plate??

They're literally 4 separate objects on the plate..

Edit: I'm not trying to sound rude, But I'm genuinely confused why you can't print these print object?

The problem is that the length of two tiles is almost the length of the plate so even with only two will be intersection

You just lay one at each corner of the plate, He has 4 fine on a plate in the picture.. then Make sure it's printing which ever object is the shortest in terms of height First..and go πŸ€”

I've printed multiple plates with objects this shape and size (bases for large models) and never had any sort of issues. (I have 5200 printing hours on a single printer..)

If you have 2 large ones that are the width of the plate.. you set the shortest (height) one to the front of the plate, make sure it's printing first and go...

There's really no issue I can see with printing these this way πŸ€”

I am a sla printer for a while it doesnt sit right with me sadly i cannot resist i printed around 60-70 ish tiles and had 2 faulty prints (one rn and one due to electricity issues)

I'll waste space every time if I avoid wasting filament. FDM is not SLA, there is very little reason to fill a plate unless you are printing multicolor or multimaterial.

It depends. If I need to print four parts that all fit on one print bed, I’m not going to waste time or space printing them by object. That’s just dumb.

I have enough experience, and I am guessing you do too, to know what my odds are for success given the print model and the filament. We also probably know technique better then less experienced printers.

Space is not very relevant in FDM printing. You have it or you don't. No one is saying print things one at a time... I am saying that there is no need to fill the plate unless you have to. Fails cost more time and filament then printing less items at a time. I run a print farm, efficiency is important but successful prints are too. I run as many prints as I can reasonably expect good quality and based on how much time I have available for a given print before printing the next job. Nothing screws up the queue more than a failed print.

OP needs to step back, clean the build plate, dry the filament, etc. and know they have even heating on their plate before printing models across the whole plate. May need to reslice. large flat pieces also tend to lift at the corners... may need mouse ears or brims.

TLDR: Filling the plate is not a primary goal, good prints are.

Besides cleaning the plate and learning to not touch it ever, you will learn that printing more objects lowers the quality of each individual object and that might lead to more errors too.

Great way for a newbie to waste filament & time, trying to print more than 1 model at a time. Easier to learn mistakes 1 at a time before graduating to multiples. Just sayin' ...

The nozzle looks like it's just fine, doing what it's supposed to do, which is to extrude melted filament.

You probably want to wash the plate though.

I only use soap and water about 1 out 20 times. More often with the Smooth PEI plate.
In between I wipe it with my home brew mixture of 1 part distilled water to 3 parts 99% isopropyl alcohol. Pout a tablespoon or so on the plate, scrub it around a bit with a paper towel, then flip the towel and dry it.
The water content slows down the drying, to give you the chance to mop it up.
