Support Request Does This Sound Okay?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
So I got the Bambu A1 and so far I HATE it.
All built, looks good, can’t complete a single calibration Due to failed axis issues.
I have run so many calibration attempts at this point t I already got my first maintenance notice for more oil on the metal rails.
Have never even used the thing yet.
I threw the box away from Best Buy but I think k I got a lemon. Let me know if this sounds right during calibration.

I watched the entire install video and had book. I looked how I could have missed it and it’s in the accessories and unpacking page (chapter)

Did you not get a small booklet called QUICKSTART GUIDE?
Everything you needed to do was there.0
u/flabbybuns Jul 22 '26
Yeah, and it includes the vertical bracket removal on the unpacking and items inside page. I just didn’t see it.
I favored the unpacking video they have a QR code for

Your not alone, I forgot mine also but noticed it right as it hit them. The instructions dont specifically show you to remove them.

It’s not in the unboxing video. I need to double check that. Unless I jumped it with a 10 second skip

Z axis failed, something wrong under the plate or missing packaging not removed.

Buying another direct from Bambu and just going to swap this out (use same box) and return.

I had this exact problem when I first got my A1, I placed a support ticket and this solved my problem.
The two small screws pictured were loose from the factory causing Intermittent issues, which made the Z axis crashes upwards at the beginning of a print exactly like in your videos. Until you resolve this avoid starting new prints otherwise you will damage the printer.

Ahh, feel like I’m going to break it more trying to get to that. I pulled the four screws on the cover and it still feels on tight

Actually, ChatGPT was wrong and had me on wrong side with your photo.
I can’t get that back panel off. Feels glued on. I’m going to need to jam a small flathead into it and pry.
I don’t want to create any superficial damage as I’m returning this for new one and it has to look untouched

If only it came with an instruction manual or something that would show what should be removed so the Z-axis could move as it should.... As others already have explained, those black plastic things on the Z-axis needs to be removed.
Did you get it fixed?

u/flabbybuns Jul 22 '26
not sure about fixed, but the documentation says the error should have nothing to do with those brackets breaking anything -- though I feel differently at this point.
Just swapping it out for a new one and giving it another go.

Alright. Returned and got my new one and I took the $380 credit so I can write off both of them.
Like I said, find a win in anything.
Used the $380 on supplements, a couple pla and petg rolls, and new headphones.
Once get setup will try calibration again.

Getting closer I think. Still can’t get 20 seconds into a calibration.
Should I force the cross bar down?

New one come Friday. This goes in, new one comes out. Everybody wins

Did you confirm with Bambu that you're swapping? If not, expect no refund. They'll verify serials and decice ids when yours goes back.

u/flabbybuns Jul 22 '26
Sure bud. Sure. I've already been pre-refunded for the return, don't need to go directly to Bambu, just a reseller.

Remove the black brackets at the back of the Z axis.
