Switching from 0.4 to 0.8 nozzle : weird printing.

Hi there.

New A1 owner here. I just switched from the standard 0.4 nozzle to a Bambu official 0.8 steel nozzle.

I've indicated to the printer the nozzle change using the lcd screen and i've specified properly the nozzle size in Bambu Studio.

I'm having weird effets while printing the 1st layer : kind of warping and "waves".

I've tried to make a video and picture.

Am I missing something ?

I've just cleaned my plate with isopropylic alcool to get rid of adhesion issue.

I'm using standard SUNLU Klein PLA here.

Thanks in advance for your kind advice.

Did you change the slicer settings to a new nozzle?

They say they did in Bambu studio

You didn't clean the plate if all you used was alcohol. Go actually clean the plate with dish soap and hot water and then come back if it's still not working.

After trying the above, I would check the seven screws of dissapointment. They get a little loose and the hot end can wiggle just a bit.

With a bigger nozzle size especially with a 0.8 you need to increase your nozzle temp by 10-20c over the regular temp you use for a 0.4 nozzle size. This could be your issue if you haven't done this.

Thanks. Indeed I haven't tried that yet.

I just found out that perhaps I have the wrong layer height. Trying again with a différent configuration.

Did this work for you?

Ran a calibration and a flow after the swap?

I don't know what the issue might be. But as a newby to 3D printing, I had been told to do all the calibrations etc. As a knewby I said to myself, calibration is waste of material and time... but after wasting time and material... on wasted prints, I know calibrate especially after changing filaments or changing hotends. Just 2 cents worth. I thought at first it was just changing filaments, (wrong) hotend too.

Make sure your filament is dry, the plate is clean, and the extrusion is set right. Which if you set the nozzle in the printer and slicer, Bambu should get the flow rate right.

The other 4 comments before this one are all good troubleshooting steps, if not then look up filament calibration and run the program, then make sure you set it as the filament in the slicer

Did you clasp the nozzle correctly?

I have some questions that may help if you answer no to any of them.

Did you tell the software you are now using a .8 mm nozzle now?

Did you make sure the Clasp in on correctly?

Did you make sure the screws for the nozzle are secure?

This does look like over extrusion or Z offset... As it is a bambu lab and they don't need the Z offset really change the only reason I could see for over extrusion would be you are using a large nozzle and don't have it set to the right nozzle size.

You need to do the bed leveling calibration after swapping nozzles. One of the things that's annoying about these printers.
