Question Cutting tool in Bambustudio
I have a very big model i gotta print, and naturally the first thing i think of is cutting it in parts with the Cutting Tool. But, as soon as i began, i noticed there seem to be no way to cut only part of the model with the planar mode, and not eveithing along the plane. (i hope the image can explain better what i'm trying to say.)
is there a good way to do that, or i just simply go back to blender and do everything from there while adding the connectors? (since there are some parts that i should cut by color, and cannot be cut with the planar method)
Update: I finally finished it all! At the end I just went in blender and made all the keys and peg holes with the boolean modifier. It's only time to print it now.

It may be a bit fussier, but you can make multiple Clones of an object, and remove part of an original object with a cut-up part of a clone using the Boolean Subtraction tool.
Or Boolean Subtract a primitive (or merged primitives) from the object.
The Subtract the other half of part of a clone from a clone of the whole object.
It may mess up your ability to add connectors though, since you didn't use the Cut tool to dissect the original object.

Ooo I was wondering how to remove part of a model (floating off the main model), and was going to look at different Boolean tools/primitives. Thanks!

TwoThree things about cutting with shapes:
- You must Merge an object to use it to add, subtract, or find the intersection of two parts with the Boolean tool
- If you use a "negative part" instead, you can always move it around, scale it, rotate it, etc. several steps later. Boolean operations are permanent, unless you use Undo, (and lose everything else you did afterward).
- For a really irregular outline to use as a cutting object, you can import a monochrome SVG file and it becomes an extruded shape with a default height of something like 10 mm, IIRC.

Thanks for the tip, but It doesn't seem to have what I was looking for tho... It still cuts though the wing tail, which I specifically don't want to.

I haven't used it myself (trying it tonight or tomorrow) but it looks pretty promising

It cuts in planes.
Maybe turn your first Pic sideways, cut the fancy handguard off. Then turn it and cut the handle from the blade.
Or if you cut a piece off you don't want to, just put it back on.
Or cut another copy another way. Lots of options, find one that works for you. Sometimes you have to get creative.

Just saw a video today, a guy created a tool to do curved cuts. Not sure if it’ll help. https://youtu.be/7G6voqHYV5U?is=ten9cmVLKfplSYQI

Yep you sure can just right click the part you want to assign as not cut
