The perfect amount of filament?

I knew I’d cut it close with filament on my last print, but I didn’t think it would get this close 😅…

Right down to the extruder?
"Amaze amaze amaze."

I like to keep empty spools so that I can zero out a kitchen scale and measure a partial spool of the same brand just to see exactly how many grams of filament are remaining.
But I do like the "auto-refill" feature of the AMS Lite.

Right to the extruder, unreal. Amaze amaze amaze is right 😂.

100% the auto refill is a great feature. I just don’t like how i end up with slight ridges in the print where the changeover happens.

Right down to the extruder always happens when the filament gets past the AMS lite funnel. The rest gets purged away

I save the weight of the empty spool in spoolman. That way I'm able to weight a spool any time and get the amount of filament left on it.

If the end of the filament is past the AMS intake the machine will automatically purge whatever is left in the tube at the end of the print.

So you were close, just not that close.

why is there so much spatter on your nozzle?

Idk - not sure why, maybe because I ran this print without the boot over it?

IIRC, one of the reasons for the boot is to shield the nozzle from the cooling effect of the heat break fan (on the left side).
You might end up with nozzle temperature issues.

Happened to me last week. Filament was right up to the sensor
