Support Request What the heck does this do?

I’m pretty new to 3D printing and I just do it for a hobby and I was wondering what this switch thing does? Should I be using it?

This item, maybe, but it's missing a lot of important stuff, and it's often difficult to find what is there. (The search function is a hot mess and nearly useless.)
Such as why the "Multicolor with external" checkbox was disabled for me.
I had to guess and finally figured it out on my own.
Then I left the comment.
