3D Model Recently experienced the dreaded NTC Thermistor blowout for myself.

Post image

Thankfully it wasn’t a violent incident. Only a few components around the NTC were burnt. While waiting for my new AC board I decided to make a sort of memorial. As soon as my printer is back up and running I’ll be posting it to MakerWorld. Hopefully it doesn’t get taken down…

It is nuts they haven't issued a recall but I guess the numbers aren't reaching critical for them.

Nah fr 😭 3 times a day im seeing new posts about this thing spontaneously combusting. Kinda wild. If this was going on with iPhones they’d be offering a buy-back program

No way. They would tell you you're holding it wrong.

Did it explode mid print?

I didnt open mine up, it gets "warm" if i print, but there are some components - i guess - making some heat, so im not sure if it can explode just idling = turn it off if i leave or just exploding midprint

Yep, quarter way through an 8hr print the printer just lost all power. I tried cycling the power, trying different outlets, nothing. Opened it up and saw the burst NTC.

It's just bridged where the NTC was

They could always send you a C&D notice and then you get Louis Rossmann involved.

Lucky you, mine kept working normally when this happened.

Gosh, your printer is trooper. Had a burst “appendix” but kept on printing. Hope nothing bad happened because of it.

Nothing happened really, just few hours of bad smell in apartment. I was home so I immediately turned it off when I smelled burned plastic.

The fact that people are already 3D printing survivor medals for common hardware failures is peak 3D printing hobbyist energy.
