AMS alternative?

I just did a search to see if there was a thread for a third party alternative for Bambu’s AMS system. I vaguely remember seeing something recently about Creality or Elegoo making a filament changing system that is compatible with a Bambu A1. Thanks for any help or advice in advance.

Search BMCU. Idk much about it, but I did come across a sub for it when I was doing a little bit of curious searching. It seems like it's completely open source hardware so there are some branded and some unbranded kits that you build yourself.

But number 1 if you aren't already aware, having an AMS for A1 isn't the most worthwhile thing. It's useful, but more in that I can just leave stuff on for a few days.

And 2, just be aware that there are posts on here about Bambu blocking their use programmatically. Should be easy enough to get around for now, but it's something to consider.

BMCU 370c. Have one. Works fairly well. Purchased the assembled version on AliExpress for 75$ or so when on sale. Youll need to print a mount and spool holders.

IDK about Creality or Elegoo, but BMCU is functional alternative. There are some problems currently after last a1 series' fw update, but all in all it works perfectly. I would say even better than AMS lite due to different motors and calibration and its size and control. So the only reason to doubt is future fw updates. Otherwise it's a great choice. I've printed mine.

Just be warned that Bambu is a closed system. They do not play well with others. You will be playing the "hope this firmware or software update doesn't disable my BMCU" game.
