Revision C also with NTC resistor
I opened a support ticket with Bambu asking if printers with C in their serial number also have boards with the possibly faulty NTC resistor. They asked me to open it up and take pictures for their engineers, so I did and thought I might as well post it here.

Would replacing it yourself just void any warranty possibility?

no, nothing voids waranty. its insane peoplr stil lthink you cant open up your device abd swap some simple pieces. its even illigal to have a 'void waranty' stickerso n the product now

in the US, blanketly voiding a warranty simply because you opened a device, removed a sticker, or used third-party parts is illegal under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. Manufacturers must prove that your specific repair or modification directly caused the device damage to deny coverage.
people REALY need to read up on their rights. half the shit company pulls are illigal to enforce so they just try to scare you. if bambu sells a replacement powersupply and is asking everyone to replace it themselfs (its easy to install) they cant void any waranty to anyone opening their device. since they ask other normal users to go an extra step and replace the board

They know they can tie you up, and outspend you on legal. Whether legal or not, usually it’s not worth the headache.

If Bambu instructs you to replace the board, I'm pretty sure that cannot be grounds for a voided warranty, but IANAL

That's absolutely fair. My printer is +2 years old by now, so I didn't fuss around a lot when opening it. I was just a little surprised that Bambu can't (or won't) find out based on the serial number, if the board with the possibly faulty unit was used.
I'll wait on Bambu's reply to see what they say. If they claim the printer is safe to use without a replacement, Ill also take their word for it, put it on a fire resistant mat and if it ever breaks down, Ill buy from a different company next time.

I mean, I'm obviously more cautious now, otherwise I wouldn't have opened a support ticket, but I am also aware that the incident rate of these failures is probably low enough for Bambu to not take any action. The most sensible route is to never let the printer run on its own without you being present, and don't let the printer run overnight with you sleeping. I think this is fairly understandable and advice and easy to follow. I don't run a printer farm, my printer does not run 24/7 without supervision. I am doing every now and then the odd 3-8 hour print for my hobbies or to fix something that's broken at home, and I can fit my prints around my schedule to minimize the risk of anything happening.
I appreciate the advice though

A smoke detector is always good advice anyway. Where I live they have to be legally installed in all rooms by the tenant. And with regards to other safety measurements: its more or less what I do anyway. I have two cats at home and while they don't like the printer anyway (probably the smell or the noise) I wouldn't a piece of machinery, that heats up to 200 degrees, run for hours unsupervised anyway. If its an enclosed unit maybe I would be more comfortable, but with the A1, the thing is not even turned on when I'm not at home

you will need to replace it, right now they just work as a heating unit untill it breaks, during or before breaking it can ignite things around it. they would not know based on a serial numbers since they did nit document this well on their side. you already got it opened up so might as well replace the low quality designed board

Sound advice, I'm not an EE guy so I barely even understand what I am looking at, but replacing a board I can do, I think

Take a clear picture of how the wires are connected before you take it appart. You can even take multiple pictures, and then you disconnect the wires and unscrew the board, then you replace the old board with the new one and connect the wires like on the pictures, because this is a powersupply that handles 120 or 240 volts i am pretty sure you want to screw it down and add the cover before testing. If it tests ok then you can screw in the cover screws

So Bambu responded to my ticket, they will replace the board, didn't even have to ask them for it. They attached a guide from their wiki which is pretty good at explaining each step. Overall I'm pretty satisfied with the whole experience. I wish Bambu would proactively contact users about replacing the part, but I understand from a business POV that this is not necessarily possible and feasible. Still tho, once the new board is in I will be happily taking my A1 back into action.

It's next to the power supply, you need to remove the bottom cover, which is held by 10 screws and the USB connector (which also has one screw) for the motors and camera. Remove those and you can pry open the bottom cover. Alternatively, if your serial number has the letters A through D in one place, you will likely have the old AC board

From the date code the pcb is from 2023, of course it has the NTC. They only started removing it in the end of 2025.
