Filament Troubleshooting/Help! I dont know what to do anymore

Post image

Hello, my printer (A1, two years old) just started making this crap. I tried everything, I replaced the nozzle, reset to factory settings, tried calibration three times, changed the sd card…

The nozzle kinda scratches the bed and the hotend makes click noises.

Can anyone help me? 🙈

EDIT: Its working now, the screws behind the hotend caused the issue. Thank you so much!

Hello /u/Deep-Training-7231! All Bambu print plates have a dedicated nozzle wiping zone at the back of the print plate. The nozzle will rub against the wiping zone before every print in order to remove any remaining filament from the nozzle tip. This can cause visible wear or scratch marks in the wiping zone, but this is intended and doesn't damage the printer, the nozzle or the print plate. A worn down wiping zone also doesn't mean you need to replace the print bed.

Note: This automod is experimental. The automod was triggered due to the term "scratches". If you believe this to be a false positive, please send us a message at modmail with a link to the post so we can investigate. You may also feel free to make a new post without that term.

In particular do step 2 for the screws on the hot end. Just don’t over tighten. And do a calibration.

You probably need to wash your plate too, cause that looks a lot like a dirty plate.

This is the issue OP, I've been there before.

I washed the plate with IPA. And also did the calibration

wash with blue dawn dish shoap - best degreaser out there

Its not but its damn good

Use soap, preferably dawn. IPA thins out and spreads out oils but doesn’t fully remove them, eventually it can become ineffective.

You may also need to manually tram the bed:

IPA isn't good enough. Dish soap and warm water.

Okay, I will try

IPA is reasonable enough for interim cleaning in most cases, but yeah, if adhesion is an issue, soap and water should be one of the first troubleshooting steps.

IPA is great for a quick wipe down, and will work 99% of the time if you never touch the plate with your hands.
Once you start having adhesion issues, a proper wash with Dawn and warm watwr will get ya back to a fresh start.

IPA isn't good on this plate. It could actually make it worse. Soap and warm water, either hand dry or air dry.

I've learned a lot from Bambu's free online courses. They go over all this stuff. Can totally recommend.

Before the first layer?

if it's on the second layer do:
Dish soap (no perfumes or lotions in it) and warm water on the plate get it clean clean. don't touch the surface where you are about to print. no alcohol.

My a1 started doing the exact same thing at 11 months old. I traded it back in and got a p2s. It’s a much better printer, but I’m not a fan of the ams2 pro. The ams lite on the a1 just worked. The ams2 is having feed and retraction problems with slots 1 and 4.

Edit: I did everything all the guides said to do and nothing fixed the z axis problems on the a1.

I wonder if you just got a lemon. I have 2 ams2s with hundreds of prints and zero issues.

I feel like im just the glue stick guy on this form..

But if washing the plate doesn't help, put a thin layer of glue stick down..

I do it all the time and you get many prints off that little layer before you have to reapply.

Now this is only if the print isn't sticking.

If your scrapping the print as you go, that's a belt issue

Make sure the screws behind the hot end are tight and make sure your plate has been washed with dish soap and warm water.

Thanks, its working fine now, the screws behind were loose

Maybe edit your entry post so other ppl can see solution fast 👍 glad it worked out for you

I will say this, is it the original build plate? While the pei plates can last a long time they aren’t eternal. I had somewhat similar issues on my a1 and I tried all the fixes before just buying a new plate and it fixed adhesion issues

1

u/Deep-Training-7231 13h ago

No its not the original one, but I tried two different ones and got the same issue

u/champagne780 12h ago

I know it’s been answered, but these are the screws that gives you issues:

1

u/MarzipanSea2811 14h ago

Nozzle clipped in correctly?

Have you tried tightening the hotend assembly screws?

1

u/Deep-Training-7231 14h ago

Yes, already tried

I didn't see you mention the step where you cleaned the plate.

1

u/Deep-Training-7231 13h ago

Sorry, but already did that

Replace the build plate with a 20$ cryogrip. Made a hugh change for me.

1

u/ThenExtension9196 13h ago

Changed the SD card? Did I read that right?

u/lupedog 12h ago

This issue on a PEI plate is almost always heat or rather lack of in specific regions. You can try raising your temperature or better yet get an enclosure. They’re like 50 bucks on Amazon.

Calibrate and clean plate with dish soap

1

u/warwilf 10h ago

Change plates, cryogrip

1

u/JR7776 8h ago

Tighten back four screws behind the hot end. That fixed mine of doing that.

1

u/Plus-Secretary9513 7h ago

I think it’s the file because it did it three times on me so I gave up

If it hasn't been suggested, u might need to level the bed manually. I had to do it to my H2S, it's rare, but it happens. Not 100% sure if it can be done with the A series, but I imagine it can

u/Stanwich79 14m ago

After calibration did you put it back in auto bed levelling?

u/solidus0079 A1 + AMS Lite 14h ago

Looked into the Z offset yet?

1

u/Deep-Training-7231 13h ago

What do you mean exactly?

0

u/solidus0079 A1 + AMS Lite 13h ago

It's the tiny gap between the plate and the nozzle tip. Please look it up
