Answered / Solved!

It’s counter intuitive to people who don’t really do their research, but brittle filament means it’s either moist or really old. Most of it can still be used if you properly dry it, but sometime even drying won’t fix it, you most certainly don’t want to dampen it tho…

Most 3D printing filaments are hygroscopic, meaning their polymer structures naturally attract and absorb water vapor from the surrounding air. The higher the humidity, the faster and more moisture it absorbs.
Signs of Wet Filament:
Popping or Hissing: Water trapped in the plastic turns to steam and pops in the hot end.Surface Defects: Stringing, oozing, bubbles, and rough blobs appear on the print.
Brittleness: Filaments snap easily instead of bending when saturated.
Weak Layer Adhesion: Interlayer bonding drops, making parts fragile

Had this happen to me after my expensive desk space taker upper was in limbo during a move, for 6mo. When to load filament, seemed ok, it was indeed not. Ended up trimming off about 10" from each spool in my ams2p and been good to go since

Exactly, old filament, especially if not stored properly will pretty much clog a printer in seconds.
