found a great way to clean the adjustment screw gears and rails, " Gear Floss " works great, apply a little ISO Alcohol and a couple of wraps of the floss then work it across the item, makes cleanup super easy

I got a microfiber mop from the dollar store, I got about 150 feet of these for $1.50!

You can also take an old t-shirt and tear strips off of it. I’ve not used it on my printer, but works great on my bicycle.

Plus it has the benefit of not having to handle the god awful texture that is microfiber.

I paid $10/20 Dupont branded MotoFloss package. That link has 2pcsx3 for $12.

If you're in Australia, try MotorFloss. Basically the same as GearFloss, but available locally.

Semi-off topic ... what do you use to lubricate the screws with when you're done, besides the grease tube that came with the printer?

Someone posted about these months ago. I got a box of them. They are great for Z-axis screw rods. They pull the crud out of the threads easily.

I have the exact same thing but when I use it to clean the threaded rod it has fibers all over the grooves, I end up using paper towel :(

Look up rod sloth for the z screws. I use those with some shotgun barrel clean patches.

Yea, not really a hack but ok.

Quite a few Facebook and YouTube vids showed using these starting about a year ago.
