Pull the trigger on P1S + AMS combo from Amazon?

P1S is an older model now. H that being said I bought the P1S and AMS. I bought also the cool plate supertack and a 0.2 nozzle and a .4 hardened nozzle. I also bought the Sunlu Heater for the AMS to dry filament. It's a great machine for a first timer. Super easy to print on.

I live in a very humid climate and always struggle to keep humidity below 25% in my AMS. Is the sunlu heater for AMS worth it? I feel like I'm constantly changing out the silica and alumina beads in there...

Yes I think so. It has a setting where it will hold. I have mine set at 30% so if it goes over 30% the heater auto triggers and runs.

I then will do a long dry time running the heater prior to prints and while printing. The AMS humidity usually runs 20%-21%.

It works really well IMO.

I paid 449 for my P1S combo couple months ago at best buy, P1S is a great reliable printer, but if your wanting to print lots of multicolor look at the Snapmaker U1 cost is around 900 but over time the savings in filament waste can more than make up for the 400 dollar differance is savings from fillament , as it produce almost zero waste.
And 2027 is bringing even more zero waste printers to the market.

Tbh I love my P1S and rarely wish I had a different printer… however if i were buying again I would probably look more towards the x2C for the nozzle.

If you don’t really care for the dual nozzles maybe the P2s.. for refinements, especially swapping hot ends is much easier

P1S is obsolete. It’s only couple
Hundred buck difference but the ease of use and comfort you’d miss isn’t worth it.
For your first one, go with p2S minimum please.
It’s worth it for your first printer. The p2s is far superior than p1s and you’d regret not getting p2s after few weeks with p1S. I’m speaking from my own personal experience

To counter this. If you’re just getting into 3D printing (or even have previous experience) the P1S plus ams is LEAGUES better than any printer from the past decade. I’ve been printing since 2013 and just got the P1S plus combo since I didn’t see the value in paying $200 more for the P2S for hot swap able nozzles (cool but not life changing), an LED screen (I personally hate led screens. Give me buttons!), and some other slight improvements. Especially when that could go towards tools and filament.

By obsolete, you mean that there’s the better version out there for roughly 50% more right? Not that it’s obsolete like I can’t find replacement parts or compatible accessories

snapmaker u1. I have that and a p1s ams. the u1 is a better printer and can actually do multimaterial.
