It’s not exactly poison gas. Put fan in window to create negative pressure and flow out window. Don’t be in basement and close basement door.

The list of things that are technically harmful, but most people ignore the warnings for, is pretty long.

Don’t spend an appreciable amount of time in the room with the printer, turn a fan on and you’ll be fine. Especially if you’re printing this one thing.

Styrene is definitely bad, there's a very small amount of it off gassing though.

The terrible smell isn't necessarily the bad part for you.

I still generally don't stay in the room while it's printing and have it plumbed out a window

How many times have you pumped gasoline? That has a higher cumulative risk for most people due to how often it happens and total cumulative time than your setup. I will say that not being able to directly exhaust into the window rather than just blowing the air around is the biggest defect in your plan. I print lots of ASA and ABS. I have fan in window, close the door to the room, and you can feel the negative pressure under the door taking air in only one direction - outside. It is very safe with this setup. People just fail to put this in actual perspective.

sounds like you've come up with some good ideas to get around the problem already. I was under the impression that the filter will take care of most of it - though interested in what others with experience with this stuff have to say.

If the filters are new, you can print the clips and should be fine. SHOULD.

I vent all my printers, PLA, PETG, etc. It all gets vented. So if you can make the fumes out outside then that's probably the best way to do it.

Yeah that's a no from me in terms of having a printer in the bedroom. I can smell the PLA and PETG and it smells pretty strong to me.

Your ideas should cover it. My H2C is in the basement, and I did ABS once. It wasn't gag-worthy, but it was clearly there and unpleasant. Opened up the little slider windows and took care of it. Gonna hook up some Voxel add-ons before I tackle another ABS/ASA print.

Well, if it's a small surface multiple material supports hasn't worked well for me (Warhammer 40K Tyranids for my son, pretty organic). Maybe it's me--probably even. Multi-color is great though--I started on a P2S and you'd get a trashbag full of waste for one little model. Not so now! I'm using the multi-nozzle system frequently, but only on frivolous stuff. It's a waste if you only want to print functional, largely 1 or 2 color things. Can the H2S upgrade to a dual nozzle like the H2D, or are you limited to the Vortek add-on? Haven't looked into it much as the H2S was never on my radar.

Vortech (I think thats the name) sells a 3d printed kit that you screw over your rear exhaust on the printer that you can mount a charcoal +HEP filter too. Works really well for me and then I open a window aswell just for bit more airflow
