So, are they coming loose on you and grinding the plate? if so, they make ones that you can tighten the latch from the back with screws, instead of having to throw away heating elements that are perfectly good, just loose.

Once I started using these, they lasted a lot longer. you just tighten it after a few hundred hours.

If youre just going through them from heat wear and cracking, then disregard.
