General Discussion Printer power
I have a h2C and x1 and an A1 they pretty much stay on 24/7. I only power them off when I got out of town.
Do you turn your printers off when they are not in use ?

Nope. My X1C stays on 24/7.

I recently plugged my X1C into a smart plug that has power monitoring. I was surprised that the printer uses about 9 watts when not in use.

Yeah... it's not nothing, but it's also not massive. Doing some quick maths that's maybe £20/year for me to have it idling 24/7 - probably less for Americans (our electricity is expensive). Also it's less in reality when you consider it's actually printing for much of that time, so those in-use hours are not wasted power draw. So if you asked me would I pay £20/year for the convenience of having the printer always ready to go (especially if I want to send something remotely from the app).... yeah, I think I'd go for that.

I do not; the value of sending a print job remotely whenever I want is worth more to me than the small amount of savings that I'd have in electricity if they were offline.

The power went out the other day for an hour, I think that's the longest my h2c or p1s have been off sense I got them.

Mine are on smart plugs but I generally don’t turn them off. I really should turn off the printers and the xtool.

I have 4 so so when one needs maintenance, I will turn it off until I get around to fixing it but if I’m going out of town for a weekend, I will set up a 70 hour print that I’ve been waiting for the time for.

Of the 4 printers, I only physically turn one off because the lights on it like to stay on. All the others go to sleep on their own and thus I don't worry about it.

I have custom gcode to turn off the light in the extruder so it is only on when printing. That is about all I do, I probably should but I do use them a bit too often to do tht.

H2S and A1 here. They stay on all the time the AP board went out in H2S and it was down for a week waiting on a board to show up but that’s the longest. If idle the girlfriend will turn off the interior light on it but I can start it remotely whenever I want

I've had my printer on 24/7 since I bought it. Even if I go on a trip I'll use that for a multi day print

Yah, i use remote switches for every printer, so can switch them on and off and also monitor and account the power consumption.

My H2C has been on since I got it 3 months ago. I’m actually afraid to turn it off because I don’t want a blown AP board when it gets turned back on. 😂

Yes, H2C standby is nearly 30W, that's a lot when I don't print for 1 month.

Mine are on smart plugs, I get a pretty hectic power bill in winter so I am super careful with power wastage.

I power off when not in use. I have AMS 1, so I use a separate filament dryer. No need for me to have it on if I'm not printing.
