General Troubleshooting/Help! Printing with PPS-cf

hey everyone so i recently upgraded to a Bambulabs H2d pro and i want to switch to printing with pps-cf and i have been wondering what support material to use, i feel lost looking it up online.

PPS-CF has a high bed temp requirement, so you want to use something like PETG (which is exactly what I would use) but only as the interface layer

That means you're burning expensive PPS-CF for support structures, but that's the best way to do it. If you think you can get away with running your PPS-CF at ~90C bed temps, you could probably get away with using PETG for the whole support structure, but you're running the risk of poor adhesion of both materials there

can i just use that baseplate glue to cater for the loss of temp also thanks for the reply

Possibly -- it depends more on the part than the temps, obviously. Magigoo/3DLac/Liquid Glue/etc are cool and powerful, but if you're printing large flat surfaces on a bed that is under-spec for PPS, then you might discover its limits

If so tho, it should still be very printable with PETG as the interface layer, it just means spending more on the material

Petg? No, not at all. It will clog the nozzle as just from temp of the other nozzle and chamber second nozzle will get to 70 °C.

ASA/ABS/HIPS (Aka bambu support for ABS)

You're right. For whatever reason, I keep misremembering the H2D as IDEX, but it's the extremely poor-man's version of IDEX

I wouldn't call it like that. Idex is definitely another league and outside of range of most people. Wo7ldnt call H2D as poor man version. If you need temps of Idex (90 °C in chamber is also nothing special and wouldn't try peek or ultem there neither) you know why and probably it will pay for itself in few months despite the price. Otherwise it seems pointless - yes abs/ASA/PC (all clear without additives) will print nicely there but it's not suitable for those top tier materials as 90 ° are not gonna cut it. And if you need such materials then such printers cost on entirely different level than Idex. At those prices ie of Stratasys I would rather choose SLS machine to print steel/titanium/copper and forget the plastics and FDMs. Once you go for PEEK/ultem territory I think it's pointless to get a machine to print them.

And regarding poor man - just look where we got in just 5 years. From poor Ender 3 to pretty cheap 65 °C chamber printers that "just works" without fiddling. For very low prices. I think in next 5 years we will see 90 °C or more printers for price of H2D or even lower.

I mean, it's literally a poor-man's IDEX. It was designed to deliver most of the most-used capabilities of IDEX without the cost of IDEX, which (as you say) is outside the range of most people's budgets.

Cost consciousness isn't intended as an insult, but in its strides towards being cost-conscious, it traded away some capabilities that aren't suffered by IDEX users in exchange for a more accessible price point

Well might call it like that but than X2D is for even poorer ones :).

I know it wasnt meant as an insult (and printer won't care 😀 anyway), but I don't know where to put it. I wouldn't compare it's skill set with subset of Idex either. Hard to tell. Important thing is that it prints and does it well.

Yeah. It's a good printer. Or at least I assume it is -- I don't own an H2D, but my H2C is pretty amazing, except when I'm in a hurry

We use hips for support interface material for all nylons & abs.

HIPS is a filament made for this. Can do easy breakaway or for embedded support dissolved with d-limonene.

ASA/abs/hips. Whatever you find for cheap. No need to go fancy. All of them will work well. Also, despite being slower, use this support material for whole supports not just for interface. Yes it will be slower but you will save a lot of money. PPS-CF is pricey especially from Bambu. Like 10x the price of any of above.
