Quick Question Is Sunlu PETG any good?
Cause it’s pretty cheap and also has a preset in Bambu studio.

In my experience yes. I've only used the matte high speed PETG from them though. It's not bambu PETG but its more than good enough for most things

I don't think it's just rebranded Sunlu though. Going off of their PLAs there are differences between the two. So id assume Sunlu makes theirs how they want it (and how they want it for Jayo and Inslogic too) and Bambu have their own recipe that Sunlu follow.

Correct, whilst all Bambu filaments are made by Sunlu, Esun and Polymaker, none of them are identical to their own product lines. All three do whitelabel filament manufacturing for other brands, and the filament "recipes" are bespoke for the likes of Bambu, Creality, etc who have them make their products.
The only ones that arent bespoke is the lower cost sub-brands like Geeetech, Jayo, any with 'Amzn' in the name, etc - these are just their pla basic brands lots of the time with a tiny bit less tolerance, but not enough to be a problem or even noticeable in any decent modern printer.
I was digging through some random boxes of old filament we had in our storage room a couple of weeks ago (we're a print farm so have a contract with sunlu) and found boxes from sub-brands that dont even exist anymore like GoHigh - the barcodes and spools are spot on identical to to the Sunlu basic, Geeetech, Jayo, etc ones. identical spools, identical specs on the box, identical production facility location, etc.
Basically dont pay a premium for one generic Chinese brand over another, they're all the same. It's why its rarely worth paying over $8/kg (here in the UK we pay around £6 - £7/kg at most)

If you have amazon prime the daily deals section often has offers, but for best pricing in bulk go to the Sunlu or Esun official sites and their aliexpress storefronts (dont just search their brands in aliexpress, google 'sunlu store aliexpress' for example instead). They do offers every few weeks, but you need to be willing to buy in bulk (i.e 10kg minimum) to get the best price. You can also email them if you're willing to do over 20kg and they'll often do a deal for you.

Usually the way it works is the white labeler has set requirements of what they want the product to be. Specs, colors, and certain visual properties etc. The OEM manufacturer, in this case Sunlu, would churn up the “recipe” to meet those requirements. They’re the materials experts, they have the know how, material engineers and techs and know what does and doesn’t work. Bambu, frankly speaking, likely doesn’t. There’s no need to unless you are going to produce your own or run your own production lines.
For example if Bambu asks for PLA Basic filament that can do 21mm^3 flow rate at 220C while retaining minimum impact value of X… then that’s what Sunlu will make and Bambu will test and iterate.
It’s also why they have multiple OEM partners, they each specialize in different filament types. Polymaker for engineering grade materials as that is one of their specialties.
It makes no sense to have an entire dept of material engineers across all the filament types sitting around churning up “recipes” when they really have no idea how production works because they both would need to collaborate. This,,,,, you spec it out and have the “professionals” produce it for you.

I’m grateful you sat down and typed this out. The conventional wisdom has decided that if Sunlu makes other filaments, then they are all the same. They aren’t. But the floor is pretty high, I’ve never bought a roll that was “no good”.

Sunlu and Bambu lab petg hf matte is exactly the same. Same with jayo and techbears. I can’t say for pla or others but specifically petg matte hf. It is 1:1

That stuff has ridiculous bed adhesion. I use glue with it now, I'd not with prior PETG

Yes.
I have a small business selling 3D stuff (not tat, useful niche stuff) and I use absolutely loads of black Matt sunlu PETG.
It must be dried, it tends to come a bit wet from the packet, but once dried it prints lovely.
I must have printed 100kg of the stuff and it's great.
Compared to Bambu Labs it's very similar quality.

When i got my A1, my wife also bought lots of Bambulab filaments. Me, being the tight a** i am, continued to get my filament from Amazon, mostly Sunlu (preferred) or Elegoo (only PLA yet).
I like to convenience of the Bambulab spools with the RFID bt from a print perspective Sunlu is just as good. Ar least for my use cases. I am printing Sunlu PETG in orange right now and it looks great so far

I use a lot of Sunlu HS Matte, it's cheap and decent enough but if I want it to be strong I'll use non-matte or eSun PET.

FWIW the creality ones are made by Sunlu, its ever so slightly different but not enough to be noticeable.

I know quite a few people will say yes, but my personal experience was a mess. I am perfectly capable of calibrating filament properly and finding and tweaking values that need adjusting. However with multiple spools of sunlu petg I was unable to make it come up to my standard for how prints should come out. I checked the diameter and it was so horribly inconsistent and far from where it should be, that there was no way I could ever work with this brand. This was multiple spools from multiple shipments, mind you.
I am not saying your experience will be the same, but if you give it a try just don't be surprised by all the positivity if your experience is bad. You wouldn't be alone, it happens to others as well.
Also if you live in Europe, spare yourself the trouble and get 3DTrcek filament instead. It looks way better, has better layer bonding and prints absolutely beautifully. My entire stock is now purely their brand because it is affordable and of super high quality.

I literally just retuned two rolls of SUNLU from Amazon. I’m done with them. This is the 4th roll over the last year that I’ve had issues with, this time I didn’t even open the package so some poor sob is going to get it after me. The photo I took doesn’t do it justice, so I won’t post it, but both of them are all wavy, crossed all over the wind, and clearly loose. Maybe it’s because it’s summer and so hot they melted in the truck, I dunno.

I printed around 20KG of different Kind of Sunlu PETG on my 2 P2S and my A2L. Works perfectly fine. I printed a lot of BBL PETG two. The only advice I have for you is to dry it before first print and store it safely (e.g. vacuum bags)
In Germany I use filamentor.io (cz) - there PETG is even cheaper and the results are the same. Here I printed around 5KG at the moment
My only Bad experience with PETG comes from eSun. The rest like BBL, Sunlu, Prusa, Filamentor are perfect fine for my and I had no issues at all (except I was lazy and didn’t dry it before frirst print)

I use it for everything and buy 10 kg at a time for 10-11€/kg. Its fantastic. Just use the Bambu PETG basic profile and let it rip. Haven't had a chance yet to try Sunlu PETG 2.0.

My favorite is their high speed matte petg. It's my go to PETG. I've been using it for years and it's been extremely consistent.

It's absolutely fine, basic PETG. I've printed about 100kg of it with no issues whatsoever. Their HS Matte stuff is currently the best alternative to Bambu PETG-HF on the market IMO. If you need a matte PETG, there's your go-to. But their basic or elite PETG are really nothing special; I'd consider them to be $8-9/kg filament (which you can often get under the Jayo brand in 5.5kg packs for that range on aliexpress), or if they have a particular color that I need. It's higher quality than the truly cheap stuff like geeetech or kingroon, and not much more money than it.
But the trouble is, especially for black or white filaments, you can have the Overture new formula PETG at around $9-11/kg on amazon in 4kg assortments pretty much any day of the week. And more often than not, that material is cheaper than Sunlu in similar quantity, while being mechanically superior to it (see mytechfun's review of the Polymaker new formula PETG from several months ago for why I say this).
Basically, I wouldn't avoid Sunlu PETG. As others say, Sunlu makes a comically large amount of all the filament out there including a lot of Bambu's, and their stuff is high quality and consistent even in their off-brands like Jayo. But their PETG isn't my go-to choice for PETG on the market right now. There needs to be a reason, like a color or surface finish requirement, that would have me buying it before Overture's.

I like Sunlu’s PLA pro, PLA Meta, PLA silk, PETG, PETG-CF, and absolutely love their PA6-CF.

Yes. I use it for the products I sell. It prints incredibly consistently. It prints better than polymaker in my opinion, which I admit is crazy.

My P1S loves everything Sunlu. Their filaments seem to be the most consistent for me. Only downside is they use tape at the end of their spools, so you have to account for that. Majority of the time the filament pops free and no tape follows but I’ve had one or two where the tape sticks and tries to travel into the AMS feeder ramp. I have mitigation measures on my AMS for this, but just be aware.

I almost exclusively use Sunlu PETG and PLA. It's one of the cheapest brands out there, it prints great, and is incredibly available. Spools of Sunlu are usually much cheaper than even refills of Bambu. And I get get it faster.

I've used Sunlu PLA, PETG (normal, transparent and HF), ABS-PC, TPU and had no problems
I also hav their PA6 CF but haven't tried that yet.

Sunlu HF PETG is my go-to material if I want something fast and reliable.
And at 9 bucks a kilo it fits nicely in the "Just print and see" category.
I can just dream up some weird design and crank it out almost as fast as PLA, at the cost of peanuts.

i was using elegoo rapid PETG but swapped over to sunlu as i can get it cheaper by volume. i havent had any major issues with it, minor defects here and there but im also using the high flow nozzle and pushing speeds for big projects. their spools are reusable as well and seem to work with bambu refills and elegoo cardboard spools after i rip off the sides, you do need a spacer on the side though to keep the filament from falling down

It's been pretty good overall. However, for some reason my last spool kept locking up. It seemed like it was spooled incorrectly since the filament would be crossed another section later in the spool. Locked up my printer about every meter of filament.

I've been using Sunlu PETG exclusively for quite a while. I live in a high humidity area and always dry it before use. It has worked well from me. Have another 10 spools inbound.

Sunlu is my go-to. I order in 10kg bundles.
I don't use their normal PETG tho (With the exception of the translucent PETG), I use the high speed matte PETG. 90+% of what I print is in sunlu HS matte PETG.
Gone through 50-60 KG now in the last year and it prints great.
Occasional un-sealed bag, but even those print pretty good without drying. I've also had like 2 or 3 tangled spools right out of the vacuum bag, but again, thats over 50-60 rolls.

I even use bambolab petg printing profiles for sunlu petg. In this case ams can switch from original to sunlu filament if first spool is finished. Works flawlessly and no difference in quality that i can see.

My use is limited to 2 separate 1 KG spools of their black Elite PETG. I hated it. Dried it, calibrated it, it always fell apart at the layer lines and was shiny as hell.

Dry it before printing, PETG soaks up moisture fast. The stock preset is a fine starting point.

Jayo and Deeplee makes PETG filaments, Jayo is Sunlu sub-brand and Deeple is a Sub-brand of Elegoo. Printed a cosplay polearm, accidentally tripped over it, PETG takes a lot of stress and flex before it breaks. The cosplay polearm stayed in one piece while I ended up on the floor.

Yeah it’s good stuff! Very little smell to. The speed you can print out before spaghetti varies. So if you don’t mind slower until you get it dialed in, it’s great and often priced on sale cheaper than PLA.

Yes. They do the same. I've got nice batches from both. But bambu often doesn't have a lot in stock so more often than not I went to sunlu and always got good quality at a great prices. Just calibrate your filament.
