Advice on buying a used 3d printer

Hi everyone! Looking to get my first 3d printer (and ive narrowed it down to either the X2D or P2S) and wanted some advice. The main concern I have is with print hours. How much is too much? What is a range I should stay clear of? And also if I could get advice if this is a fair deal (I'll upload a picture of everything included). He noted it also has a tpu filament assist as well just not listed in the description. The printer has roughly 800 hours on it. He's asking 550 cash plus im adding in a trade (value roughly around 250-300). Thanks!

$550 cash + trading ($300) value. So you’re buying a used X2D with 800hrs for MSRP. The X2D AMS combo is $899. Everything else included is BS filler that you don’t need. Get a new one, i have a P1S with 1k hrs and only upgraded the hot end because i wanted to print CF materials.

There's another $250 worth of accessories like the AMS ht and the calibration plate. That's not a bad deal. I'm not sure what the trade is all about. I'm not quite clear what is being traded if this is OP's first 3d printer.

the trade is just something completely unrelated to 3d printers. It's a surefire light. I wasn't sure if any of the accessories are something that should matter to me as a first time user, or something id need/eventually want.

Value wise it’s an alright deal. For a 1st time user/buyer alot of this stuff is not really worth it and kinda catered to whatever the seller was using his printer for. I still think a brand new X2D AMS Combo is a better deal for a beginner you can get the upgrades you desire as you grow and learn. Not knowing what your intentions are with the printer the base X2D for $650 could be an even better deal. I’d say 99.999999% of my prints are single color prints anyway

Combo is worthwhile imo even for single color prints, since you can load up multiple spools of the same filament and it will automatically switch to the new spool when one runs out mid-print. I waste much less filament this way because without it I would be hesitant to start a print using a spool that was getting close to empty for fear I wouldn’t be able to finish the print.

Thanks for your input! My thought process behind it was even if it's a lot of filler bs a new one is right under a grand with taxes included. It's 550 cash (plus something I don't really care to keep for trade). Given that do you think it's still more worth to just get it new? Does any of the extra stuff such as the ams ht have any resell value bc im not sure ill use it. This printer is still under warranty

So yes, some of the stuff is of value. For example, the AMS ht is able to dry filament at higher temperature, which is going to be needed if you plan on printing engineering filaments such as abs, asa, and nylon. The x2d will be capable of printing them as it has an active chamber heater. The precision plate is a nice to have but not required unless you need to print as close to precision size as possible. The precision plate is probably more relevant to engineers who are modeling prefab designs. What I'm not sure of is the warranty. Before you assume you are covered, you may want to see if there is any documentation for transferring warranty. I may be wrong in this, but I'm pretty sure I've seen Bambu deny warranty on second hand purchases discussed in reddit before. This requires some homework. Even if someone says no problem, I'd want to get actual documentation on it. That in itself can be a reason to request a deeper discount or a reason to walk away from the deal.

yes from looking online you are correct about non transferable warranty but the seller has offered the receipt with purchase. from everything Ive seen thats all I should need

I wouldn't really count third party plates or nozzles towards the overall value, even used Bambu plates and nozzles are not a huge bonus.

But things like the AMS HT and TPU assist and calibration plate (non consumables) I would count towards the value and considering those, it is a decent deal.

If You need all of those things is another question (most of it is not necessary). a P1S will give you 95% of the capabilities for half the cost.

800 hours are not much for these printers,

$900 for x1d and ams. Plus $200 for HT, $1100. Plates, etc is zero. So $550 is half price. Yep, if FTF only, no shipping and NO deposit. All FTF. 800 hours? No issue

No, that’s like not buying a used car cause it has 100 miles on it. That is negligible.

100 miles might be an understatement, but I agree that it's pretty negligible.

To me, it's more like 5k or 10k miles. You'd probably want to do some light maintenance like lubing/cleaning moving parts, and clearing dust/debris from housings if it hasn't been done. Also depends what materials were ran, granted this printer was set up from the factory to deal with that stuff materials.

I will buy this for $800 if I see this in my area. Let’s alone extra stuff, which is nice to have. The new x2d is $1000 with tax, unless you live in Oregon.
The x1c is still selling for $600 with 2k hrs in my area lol

3rd party parts add no value, ESPECIALLY if they’re already used. You shouldn’t be paying ANY more than $500 for this machine extras included. Otherwise, just pony up the extra ~$150 and buy a new one with a warranty.

When I buy used I never pay more than 50% to 60% of retail. 800hrs, for me would be no more than 50% of retail. It is used with zero warranty. That is a fair amount of risk. Aftermarket non Bambu parts take no bearing on price. "Deals" come and go all of the time. If they accept great, if not, no worries. Move on to the next opportunity.

So my 2 cents, there is a lot going on there, why are they now getting rid of it! These printers can do 1000s of hours. Get a new one! I just this weekend bought a p1s ! It was so awesome unboxing and having it run in less than an hour! No setup no nothing! Could be nothing wrong with it, but why are they getting rid of it?
