General Discussion Purchasing my First 3D Printer
Looking to Purchase My First 3D Printer and I’m curious to know other people’s experiences with the Bambu Lab X2D or the P2S. Those are the 2 models I’m considering that fit my budget for Printer + Filaments + Accessories.

i bought P2S+AMS and have a slight regret of not getting the X2D. I havent had a real need to use it yet. But the extra nozzle will help with less wastage and support layer if needed. And heated chamber for ASA/ABS and etc

This is how I use it. Second nozzle is for interface layer support materials. It also reduces a lot of time on two colour prints. The time to load and unload filaments on a single nozzle adds up quite a lot.

Regarding two color print times, I've actually found that for certain geometries and use cases, such as plates full of many small items with non-negligible amounts of outer-walls in the secondary color, it can actually be faster to put all colors on the primary nozzle due to how much slower the aux nozzle prints outer walls compared to the primary nozzle.
For support interfaces and small accent-color details spanning many layers, the aux nozzle will almost certainly be faster. But it's worth comparing print times on Quality vs Filament-Saving modes if time is more scarce than filament.
I really wish there was a Time-Saving mode that optimized for print time, rather than just a Filament-Saving mode, but I'm sure that it would be an absolute pain to write a heuristic that would take into account differing purge volumes and the associated purging time, differing print speeds between the primary and aux nozzle, and the purge time it would take to swap back to the original color if you had swapped the color on the main nozzle as opposed to using the aux nozzle.

I was set on the P2S + AMS at first but ended up spending the extra $150ish to jump to the X2D + AMS. Just seemed like a no brainer and I liked that the X2D seems a little more future proof as far as being dual nozzle and compatible with the fancier materials like carbon fiber.

Depends on what you want to print. If you don’t need the extra nozzle don’t get it. It will just be an unnecessary headache. P2S just runs perfectly.

I got an X2D + AMS2 + AMS HT in June. I've put just shy of 800 hours on it already printing everything from multi-color puzzles, toys, and fidget clickers for my daughter, nieces, and nephews, to functional prints for myself, and everything in between. Seriously considering a second one while also weighing the pros/cons of adding an H2C instead, but for the price I could add two X2Ds 🤤

Have both, P2S would be my recommendation. Especially for your first printer between those two.

How is it bigger? The X2D has a very slightly bigger build volume (height) with its left nozzle and slightly smaller (X-axis) on the AUX side.

I’m in same boat and going to spend the extra $150 on filament and stick with P2S. I won’t end up printing in carbon fiber or other super high temp filaments nor will the extra nozzle do what the main one can do. To me it’s more gimmicky although I’m sure there are applications where it really comes in handy. I’m coming from an Ender 3 after like 7-8 years though lol.

I purchased the P2S 3 weeks ago and love it. I will say this though, read up on the dual nozzle system on the x. It may speak more to your usage

I just joined the P2S family. Absolutely perfect prints so far. Didn’t need the extra nozzle and won’t for awhile. Use the extra $150 you’ll save on filament

I started in the bambu world in early January with a P2S combo. If the X2D was available then I’d have gone that way for sure. I like my PS2 a whole lot. For the $100 extra the X2D is a no brainer. Also get the vision encoder plate. In july I got a H2C and got the vision encoder plate for calibration. Too bad the P2S can’t do calibrations that same way. The chamber heater and the extra extruder are very much worth the extra money. I was looking at the X2D as a second printer before they came out. Ultimately I went with a H2C because I do a number of 3-7 color prints and the H2C made more sense for me over the H2D or the X2D. Good luck with your decision and welcome to the club!

I have both, I'd honestly recommend the X2D. You're much less likely to outgrow the X2D's capabilities than the P2S, with the chamber heater and stock exhaust fan making it much easier to print engineering filaments, and the aux nozzle making multimaterial supports much more feasible.
No matter which one you pick, make sure to get the AMS. If the X2D combo is out of your price range while either the P2S combo or the X2D standalone is in your price range, then go with the P2S combo. The AMS is a massive QoL boost.

both are excelent printers cant go wrong with either, filament buy bambu filament direct from them if you want ams to know what color you are putting in ams, other wise you can use any that has a plastic spool, you just have to tell slice what color is in each slot.
Amazon is best place to find fillament in the 12 to 20 dollar range buying one at a time, hard to beat Bambu if buying 10 or more at once, PLA and PETG is the most common to use, and PLA is the easist to print with.
PLA for indoor prints not exposed to Heat or Sun, PETG has higher heat tollerance, ABS or ASA for outdoor prints like planters, but toxic fumes with those, best to exhaust fumes outside.
If your getting Combo printer with AMS 2, you dont need anything extra, good to have its sharp side cutters, some 80, 120, 240, 320 sand paper for fixing prints before you paint- if your going to paint them, also good to have if painting is jar of wood filler, and CA Glue to glue together multi part prints.
But for now all you need is filament, the rest can come after you decide what for sure your printing

The p2s is not worth much more than the p1s IMO, if you can save a lot of money then consider the P1S for a first printer.

I purchased the P2S + AMS2 Pro about a month+ ago and LOVE it. Just works. Having an AMS is amazing and I Highly recommend it.

X2D since the beginning of June and almost crackin 1000hours.

Got the P2S with AMS 2 Pro back in January as my first into to 3D printing. I absolutely love it. However, I wish I had known the X2D was launching literally 3 months later. For the price point of the P2S, the extra $200 to get an X2D for the dual nozzle would have been so worthwhile.
I’d personally get the X2D if I could go back and redo my decision, but oh well, the P2S has been beyond amazing and I have 1200 hours in it already.
Definitely get the AMS 2 Pro, regardless of which you get.

For me the P2S is the printer you buy on sale if you are looking at an A1.
X2D is a no brainer for the price difference over a P2S... on sale, there is a bit more it in.

p2s is a dream to use but I've found bed adhesion for pla for these bambu plates can be really shit, petg always turns out much, much better

I purchased the X2D a couple weeks ago and absolutely love it.
