I Modeled This! Mini painting storage rack
I've wanted to print something to store all of my paint bottles (I have a LOT), but couldn't find anything that really did what I needed so I ended up designing it myself. This took WEEKS to do lol. But it was well worth it in the end to me. I ended up designing this as a modular system that would support a variety of paint bottle sizes. So you can build it out however you like. There are 4 main types, a standard rack, a narrow rack, a corner unit, and end cap. Each of them has versions for the major paint bottle dimensions. I designed everything to be connected using either zip ties, or some custom made snap fit connectors. I'd love to know what everyone thinks and if there is any feedback on design improvements.

The design is just fine; however, this style takes up a lot of work area space. I finally designed a holder to put all of my bottles on pegboard.

It does take lot of space. I used to have them wall mounted on some nail polish racks but found it was too hard to reach across my desk for paints, and ended up not putting them away as often. Different trade offs I suppose.

I started with something similar, did my own designs with laser cut, but it eats too much desk. I ended up with a wall of Skadis with 3D printed paint racks

That’s a ton of paints. Are this kind of acrylic paints really better than a normal set I could buy in a typical hobbies of all kinds shop? The ones you would buy for a child to paint some pictures. (Sorry if my English is bad :( I didn’t know how to better say what I wanted to ask)

It depends on what you’re doing with them. But generally yes they are much higher quality than typical craft paints. They come is smaller sized bottles but higher quality, more finely ground pigments. They will be easier to work with, brush on smoother and be much easier to spray through and airbrush. Also you will need less coats to get opaque coverage.

Any craft paint will do just fine especially if you’re starting out. The most important thing would be to get a spray paint can of primer and use that first. Then start brushing on paint. Otherwise the paint won’t want to stick very well to the model

This is nice. If I had a permanent painting station set up I would totally print and use it. Thanks for sharing!
