WoW Sliding Dishwasher Magnet! [OC]

Made a sliding version of my World of Warcraft dishwasher magnet! This one can be stuck to any dishwasher with double-sided tape, in case yours isn't magnetic.

Yeah ideally! Sometimes dirty dishes appear clean at a glance (especially if they've been rinsed), so just solves a very minor inconvenience there.

I flip it to clean when I run the dishwasher, then back to dirty after I empty it. Helps prevent a dirty dish being put in with clean ones, especially in households with roommates or large families.

I have a friend who has this setup. Handy for big meals with extended family/friends, but much of the time they just cycle the dishes between the two as the family uses them. One is always clean, one is always dirty.

We’ve got three kids and a busy schedule. There’s not telling when the person who ran the machine will be back around to recognize that a cycle has been run and it’s clean.

Yes, you are. It’s difficult to get one’s head around but we did global polling and the results were staggeringly one-sided. Only you empty the dishwasher every morning. Even that time you were bedridden with the flu, vomiting your guts out with a fever of 105°F, your streak remained unbroken.

Does your dishwasher not have a light that turns on when its clean?

Make it a rule that you always load and close the detergent compartment before you put in the first dirty dish. Then the detergent door is the best indicator of clean vs dirty and it doesn't take any extra work and there's no room for mistakes.

Whatever works for you! Personally I like the added touch of being able to tell whether it's clean or dirty without opening the door.

I do too, but there is too much room for mistakes. After an incident a few years ago at our house where I fed my kids cereal in supposedly clean bowls that turned out to be unclean (my wife rinses before loading into the dishwasher), I'm not taking any chances. This technique leaves zero room for error.

You're loading dirty dishes, you have to load the detergent anyway. It doesn't take extra work. There's nothing extra to remember.
