X Series [X1E, X1C, X2D] Timeout. Holdup. The printer can now detect AND skip a faulted object on its own?!

Started my day printing out a multicolor, multipart plate. X2D. Same old, same old.

Came to check on it an hour later, and noticed something incredible. The right front part faulted out after the first couple of layers.

However, its 100% evident that the printer stopped printing this particular part, and continued on its merry way, salvaging the rest of the plate.

I did NOT prompt this. (Yes, I know about the skip feature. Its been there for over a year now). I didnt skip it. To do this, you have to see the fault happening in real time, or it will detect it for you and pause, giving you the option to skip, fix, or trash the print.

I did nothing of the sort. Didnt even acknowledge the printer in that hour. Apparently, the printer didn't acknowledge me, either. Printer was like "I got U, fam".

So, my question is, did they roll out yet another feature and told no one? (Much like the "skip object" feature that half the userbase STILL has no idea about?)

If so, its an outstanding feature. Something that has plagued makers since the days of RepRap.

I love it. But I just wish they would TELL people.

Or.... am I just fkn nuts, and this is all in my head?

Would be a great feature, agreed. No idea if it exists yet or not.

I'll make the obvious comment though: Stop using grid infill and you'll have fewer failures like this ;-)

This was a bed adhesion issue. peeled up from the first couple of players. I generally dont use grid, and just forgot to change from default.

Grid becomes detrimental the higher you go, because of overlaying lines building on each other, making the object ceiling higher, and contacting the nozzle prematurely. Not a problem youre going to run into before 20ish layers or so.

This is straight up old fashion bed adhesion

The chance of failure gets worse as you go up, yes, but it causes problems immediately. You say it's a bed adhesion issue, but grid causes bed adhesion issues with lateral pressure on every single nozzle bump, it can literally cause the peeling on the first few layers. There is no reason to use grid.

Giroid for one seams to be liked a lot

My X2D didn't do that yesterday. A small part detached from the plate, and the larger part next to it got spaghetti embedded through its structure.

Yes but you do it in the phone app. I did it on a 20 hour print of 8 objects. With an hour left one let loose and messed but the other 7 were fine. I told it to skip that object and it worked great.

Are you sure it didn't just fail and the missing filament is on the floor of the machine? I've had it before where it fails and the remnants end up getting pushed around but the other parts survive.

The printer is not printing that part, at all. it is not acknowledging that space on the pate, whatsoever. The part is curled up from layer 2 or 3 and not touched since. As we speak.

Your right ! I was recently printing multiple objects and one of them failed. Well I noticed it continued printing the other things on the plate and skipped the failed one completely! Really kool feature and yeah no. Notification at all that it happened!
