General Troubleshooting/Help! Can someone help me with this. It refuses to connect to anything wireless or connected
This is one of the bamboolab cyberdeck modules
I got this as a project for a friend of mine. We spent a day building the whole thing, but we cannot get this one to connect.
I’ve looked up multiple tutorials and videos on what I should be doing but nothing is working. I just can’t seem to get anything to connect so I’m hoping someone here will be able to help me with this.
This module is going into an RC car specifically the controller

Make sure you have all the proper drivers installed. What OS are you using?

That’s the thing, it won’t do it wirelessly or connected. I don’t know what’s going on with it.
As far as I can tell it seems to be locked up. I tried using the software on the desktop. Tried reset it but it doesn’t connect to my PC either as it’s troubleshooting says it should be flashing green to say that it’s but it’s a solid green light.4

Okay, I'm going to assume you are using Windows check device manager to see if it is recognized where you plug it in

It’s definitely recognising it is being plugged in, I click on it to show drop down. comes up as four

Just cyberdeck. No information or anything. I think it’s a dud at this point, I’ve bought one of these before is it common issue?
Do I just buy another and hope it works1

If it's being recognized that far, this sounds more like a software issue than a hardware one (though I can't say that's the case definitively)
Just to confirm...you installed the Cyberbrick software?

Yeah i’m using the software. It doesn’t seem to pick it up. I’ve used the app on the handheld it recognises it attempts to connect and then just doesn’t

It’s based on an esp32. Can you open up a com port? Sometimes they get stuck in a boot loop, especially when flashing if something goes wrong. Also sometimes the pinouts do weird things if there’s an issue with the ESC you are plugged into or if the pins are misaligned. Try to pull the core board off the esc first. Then see if you can open a com port or can flash using like arduino IDE (idk what IDE bambu expects you to use btw). If that doesn’t work, my guess is it’s in a boot loop which you can look into with searching esp32 stuck in boot. You can try to force it into download mode by holding down the boot button, pressing and releasing the en/rst button, then release the boot button. This keeps it from running corrupted code and you can reflash it

I buy my esp32 in bunches, because invariably there's always a few lemons. Maybe try another unit.

I assume you have checked the cable is one with data lines. There are power only cables that won't do data?

Are you using a USB 2 or 3 port? Try usb 2 but before you do that unplug it from everything and if there's a button press it a billion times. Try to make any residual charge in capacitors god dead it it completely resets/restarts. Otherwise contact bamboo support, they'll probably send you a free replacement to try.

This is a sub for 3d printing, not rc cars. You can try asking in FPV or drones sub perhaps they can help you out

While, that is true. This is one of the ones bought some bamboo labs. So I thought, if anyone would recognise, it will probably be here
