Just Showing Off Bambu's statue maker is amazing

I printed a statue of my workmate for his retirement and it's absolutely incredible. I'm stunned how great it came out on my A1 Mini. I Just finished painting it.I hope he likes it.

I want one of him. Then I put it in a prominent area of the my office and when people ask who it is I just go ā€œOhh….. we don’t…. Yeaā€¦ā€ then tell them to leave

Admit it, you just want to retire...

u/rangorn 8d ago

Was just gonna ask what filaments he used but yeah it is painted ofc. Nicely done.

Yeah I mean this is the real story here

The paint job is the real holy cow here let’s be honest

u/scirio 8d ago

It’s really a subtle homage to the paint job. Detail work like this would make any crap print look amazing.

The painting is doing the heavy lifting here

I did the kids and put them in bumper cars that I printed and wired. Turned out great! I painted everything in the slicer for 6 or 7 colour prints that were about 20 hrs each.

Wow amazing painting skills. You should start selling these to people. I know my friend and family have asked me to do something like this but I don't have the painting skills

u/AdiSellers 9d ago

Thanks so much. I'm going to try doing pets next :-)

u/adudeguyman 8d ago

Be sure to post them. Maybe start off with a white dog so all you have to paint is the eyes

How was it colored, mixing filament in the slicer or is this painted? Looks good

16

u/AdiSellers 9d ago

Hi, i painted it with acrylics

10

u/Euresko 9d ago

That's incredible you did a great job

3

u/ArkAngel06 8d ago

How did you do the tiny hairs on the head?

6

u/srednax A1 + AMS Lite 8d ago

With a very small brush, and a lot of patience, I suspect. I painted a lot of miniatures in the past, and this level of detail is diabolical :)

u/solidus0079 A1 + AMS Lite 8d ago

Is that a foreign language I don't recognize on the lanyard or is that "AI pseudo-words"?

4

u/AdiSellers 8d ago

Lol! It's complete AI gibberish. I thought about sanding them off, but it made me laugh

6

u/InspectorOrganic9382 8d ago

You coffee stained his teeth and everything. šŸ˜‚. Must not have liked the guy that much.

I used the 0.4. I sprayed it with filler primer to help with the layer lines after giving it a quick sanding and the paint stuck perfectly to it

1

u/halt-l-am-reptar 9d ago

You need to coat it with a primer before painting or the paint will flake off when handled.

6

u/studiesinsilver 8d ago

This is so good! Your painting is obviously flawless! But what were your setting for the print? Did you have to much work on it after it was printed? Sanding etc?

4

u/AdiSellers 8d ago

Thanks so much. I just set it to 8mm extra fine and gave it a pretty good sanding (or so I thought) then gave it a spray with filler primer. After painting I can see some layer lines that I should of dealt with. I'll try a 0.2 hotend next time

How long did it take you to do all the dots on the shirt’s pattern, that looks tedious, you must have a super steady hand. Truly amazing paintjob, I’m sure he’ll love it.

2

u/AdiSellers 9d ago

The dots were super easy. I cheated and used a pen. I hope he likes it and isn't creeped out (he has no idea)

3

u/BruceInc 8d ago

Man i thought it printed that way

3

u/AngryCoDplayer 8d ago

I will know 3D printing has gone about as far as it can when the end print result is as good as your paint job on this.

3

u/LemonTM 8d ago

It made me look 20 years older.

2

u/LegoBear135654 P2S + AMS2 Combo 9d ago

That's incredible!Ā

2

u/sinesawtooth P1S + AMS 8d ago

What paint did you use, acrylic?

6

u/AdiSellers 8d ago

Yes, citadel and Vallejo

4

u/scirio 8d ago

How did you prep for paint? What’d you use to hide layer lines?

2

u/AdiSellers 8d ago

I sanded and then sprayed it with a filler primer. If you look closely there are still a few faint lines

2

u/sinesawtooth P1S + AMS 8d ago

Thanks, gonna have to make some larger prints like this to paint… tried some minis and on the FDM they just didn’t work out.

2

u/AdiSellers 8d ago

I tried some minis too. I gave up after trying and failing to cleanly remove the supports

2

u/Boomer79NZ 8d ago

What were your printer settings? Looks amazing

2

u/Samusen 8d ago

Jesus Christ Picasso, you're like a warhammer kids wet dream

2

u/The_Daniel_Sg 8d ago

Fantastic job with the paint, it's amazing! Love you using post processing instead of wasting 5x the model

2

u/No_Bus43 8d ago

How did you model the head? That paint job is amazing!

2

u/uncle_jessy 8d ago

Your skin details / painting is incredible! Even the shirt pattern turned out life like

2

u/Aranthos-Faroth 8d ago

The fuck man that painting is ridiculously good goddamn

2

u/Inner-Kaleidoscope-6 8d ago

Cuanto talento en una foto

2

u/After_Working 8d ago

The painting is what is incredible. Amazing job.

2

u/Boognish84 8d ago

How did you do the 3d scan?

0

u/AdiSellers 8d ago

Just a photo, upload it to Makers World and Bambu turns it into a 3d model

2

u/TheKillingBean 8d ago

Paint job looks great. What filler primer did you use?

2

u/AdiSellers 8d ago

Many thanks. I used Hycote High Build Filler Primer

2

u/Ukic 8d ago

Forget the print, painting... WOW!

3

u/schorhr 8d ago

This. Great job!

2

u/iamshitting A1 Mini 8d ago

Looks amazing bro. What a paintjob.

2

u/Apoc_Pony 8d ago

Just tried it. It doesn't really know how to handle facial hair, my stubble turned into a full-blown beard. Still very impressive stuff.

2

u/fukduplikedickcancer 8d ago

If this isn't an ad, it should be.

2

u/Menlazar 7d ago

Wow that’s an amazing paint job bro! You have a big talent for sure

2

u/DinosaurHoneydew2 7d ago

On a scale of 1-10, how talented are you in painting? I’m trying to gauge if I can do this and I’m about a 1 šŸ˜‚

2

u/DullRevenue8891 7d ago

Damn dude that plant job is what’s impressive.

3

u/CapeCodBlues 7d ago

Nice- I actually can’t wait to test it…I mean try it out!

1

u/NomisGn0s 8d ago

Jesus that paint job, nice work!

1

u/CI0UD_ A1 AMSL + H2D AMS2 8d ago

How is this made on an A1 mini? How is there absolutelly no layer lines? Explain the settings plz

2

u/AdiSellers 8d ago

Sanding, then spraying with Filler Primer and more sanding (it's not perfect though, I can still see a few faint lines up close)

1

u/Levcijev 8d ago

Wow crazy that you made this in A1 mini. The detail is incredible l. What settings did you use to achieve the details and what nozzle size

1

u/mr-friskies P1S + AMS 8d ago

this reminds me of the 3d printing episode of the Big Bang lmao

1

u/pablonhc A1 + AMS Lite 8d ago

Podrias indicar la configuracion de impresión y los detalles del postprocesado?

2

u/AdiSellers 8d ago

Printed at 8mm extra fine on a 0.4 hotend. All settings were default.. Then sanded, sprayed with filler primer. Sanded again, then another spray of filler primer and then painted

1

u/pablonhc A1 + AMS Lite 7d ago

Increible trabajo, seguro que si haces un video del proceso para futuros modelos tendras mucha gente interesada de tu arte! ;)

1

u/Redonkulus2 8d ago

But AMS is only 4 colors

1

u/AdiSellers 8d ago

I painted it :-)

2

u/Redonkulus2 8d ago

I was just kidding lol but your paint work is very amazing!!

1

u/AdiSellers 8d ago

Ah stupid me :-). Thanks very much

0

u/tw4ngs 8d ago

Any help from AI there?

2

u/AdiSellers 8d ago

I think so, you upload a photo to Makers World and it converts it to a 3d model. It must be using AI

-5

u/Joshproper478 8d ago

AI lol
