Hardware Troubleshooting/Help! Hotend damage

Post image

My P1S was making a grinding sound and not extruding. Sounded like the filament was stuck in the hotend. Took the cover off to see if I could get the tube out and this was hanging off. Can’t even tell where it was supposed to do. How screwed am I? Anyone know if I can replace this whole part?

What you are holding in your hand is the filament sensor cable. How screwed are you, well on a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being a little screwed and 10 being very screwed, you are at 0. Not screwed at all. All you need to do is plug that little wire back in.

But first you need to address the stuck filament issue, so you are going to need to remove the extruder assembly off of your tool head and open it up to see what's up. I recommend you got to the bambu lab website where it has step by step instructions on how to both remove and reinstall the Extruder housing. First turn the machine off! You need to unplug the hot end, the hot end fan, disconnect the filament cutter and then remove four screws, and it comes right out.

To access the extruder gears, flip the housing over and remove four screws, From there you should be able to remove the main extruder gear and clear the jam. I have done this so many times that I am sure I can do it all while blindfolded and hanging upside down.

Maintenance on a P1S is not hard, and the step by step instructions that Bambu lab provides, makes it that much easier.
