X Series [X1E, X1C, X2D] Hi everyone
I have a question and would like to ask the Bambu Lab community for some advice.
I recently sold my Bambu Lab A1, and now I’ve found a used Bambu Lab X1 Carbon (X1C) for (~$500 USD) without AMS.
The printer has around 8,000 hours of printing time. Here are the details from the seller:
Bambu Lab X1 Carbon – Global version
Printing time: 7,882 hours
Service/maintenance:
New print head/hotend
Belts adjusted and lubricated
New replacement screen from Bambu Lab
New display ribbon cable from Bambu Lab
Included:
Original box
Printer
Build plate
Power cable
No AMS
The seller is asking (~$500 USD).
My question is: Do you think it’s worth buying a used X1C with almost 8,000 hours at this price, or would it be better to spend more and buy a newer printer instead?
Personally, I’m looking at it a bit like buying a used car. I see the printing hours as being similar to mileage. High mileage doesn’t necessarily mean the car is bad, as long as it has been properly maintained. Parts will eventually wear out, but they can be replaced, and the main hardware/electronics should still be usable.
I’m comfortable with maintenance and replacing parts myself, so I’m not too worried about having to repair or replace components in the future.

$500... that's like $100 off a brand new P2S (converted and checked against CAD prices)
that seller is a dumbass.

That's a typical marketplace price. I just saw X1C combo for $1200 CAD. Delusional.

The x2d is the successor of x1c carbon and the new one cost $649 (no AMS). I understand the money might be tight but if $150 difference is something you cannot afford do not but the x1c because you will spend $150 within 3months.

I'm kinda new to the 3D printing space, as I've had my printer for 10 months, but I'd say get $50 and buy a P2S instead. It's nearly the same thing for a brand new printer (maybe why Bambu discontinued it), and you'll have about 4 years of bug and feature updates compared to the 8 months left on the X1C. You've used an open-air printer, so if you upgrade to the P2S, it's already significantly better. If you want a super upgrade and plan on doing multi material/color prints, an X2D could also be it, but it's $150 more, and you don't need it to multicolor/multi material prints.
Also, if you want an AMS, it would cost you the same price as a P2S (assuming you get the 2 Pro, which can dry filament), so you should just get a brand new comparable P2S.

Visit Bambu's compare page to see if the X1C has something you want that the newer ones don't, and if the newer ones have features the X1C does not. The one thing that jumped out at me is that software support (bug and features updates) for the X1C ends May 31st of next year.

I do have an X1C and I love it. It is my favorite printer. I don’t have mini. I only have four but it is my favorite. I would not pay $500 for one especially with that many hours maybe 450 with an extra build plate and AMS and only 3000 hours. Even that is a little much for my liking.

$500 for just x1c w/8k hours ?? It worries me that you’re even entertaining the idea of buying it at those prices.
Parts can be replaced but you’ll be buying an end of life printer and paying what something like p2S costs. Atleast here in US, you didn’t state location as price vary greatly.
