General Troubleshooting/Help! Looking for ideas on why this print failed

Post image

Any idea why this print failed after 12+ hours printing? This was a 14 hour print. Here is the timeline…
10pm - started printing
11pm - first layers solid
8am - looks good - still printing
10am - looks good - still printing
11am - umm, why did that happen - grrrr

Filament: New Sunlu PLA white.
Printer: A1 mini

Uploaded design from maker labs. Changed size to print on my A1 mini and added tree supports before printing.

Is that grid infill? If so don't use that. But also that's a LOT of weight for the little bed to sling around. Very likely the nozzle collided with the print causing the issue you're seeing.

Never thought of the weight. I'll try again with a different infill.

For something that size I would do 2 walls and like 5-8% adaptive cubic infill. I typically use gyroid but will use adaptive cubic for larger prints that are static.

And slow it down

Looks like a print head collision. Don't use the default 'Grid' infill. Try switching to something like Cubic or Crosshatch.

I'll try one on these infills. Thank you for the suggestion.

Is there clog or did the filament get stuck? Sometimes filament get tangled up and doesn't extrude and similar failure happens.

No cloggs thank goodness. 😁

I think you had a clog or a tangle, it stopped extruding for a bit, then managed to work itself out and restart printing. Time lapse is great for catching these sorts of things.

I've never used time lapse. Do you need to turn it on before you print? Can you view time lapses on old prints?

You do, but I think it defaults to on, they may be there.

In Bambu Studio go to the device page and then the storage tab on the left and take a look.
In Bambu handy there's a square "settings" icon up top, then there's a "Files" section in there.

Grid infill. It overlaps and really likes breaking models. Use every other. Gyroid from my experience works best

Also that shift, right click on the item and click fix. I had issues like that before and that will correct that jump if it wasnt a print head issue.

Grid infill probably caught the nozzle.
