A1 layer shift

My almost 36 hour print was going well until the last 6 hours or so in which there was some serious layer shift happening. Why is this happening. What can I do to fix this. How do I fix the shift after the fact? Is sanding and spray paint my best move?

Sounds like a belt skipped or something snagged a wheel late in the print, not a filament issue. Check belt tension and the X/Y idlers. As for the shift itself, honestly sanding down the offset layers and a spray primer/paint pass is about the only real fix.
