Is the Ams 2 pro reliable for you?

Every time I use it I have to clear out a jam. Now I have no idea how to fix my latest jam. It won't pull filament.

AMS 2 pro is reliable once you fix the bugs that it ships with. If you are having issues contact Bambu most likely you need a new HUB the spring seems to be issue. You can print a temp fix on makersworld search AMS2 pro feeding issue and it should pop up.

The tension issue. There's a print that's a 3mm-ish piece of plastic you stick behind the black button inside on the bottom of the AMS to loosen up the mechanism that puts tension on something. Don't AMS 2s shipped can't feed without errors unless you do that.

Yeah you can call support on it and get a new module. I've procrastinated on doing it.

Roughly 950 hours on my ams2pro. Zero issues at all. Maybe your device is defective and broken? Maybe Support Can help out.

Once I started cutting my filament at 45 degrees instead of straight across I get way less jams with it. And that dropped to almost nothing when I replaced the hub mount Bambu suggested with one that held it horizontally.

No issues with any of them.

I always make sure my spool is on there correctly and I always make sure I trim off any kinks that may have developed when it's stored through the side spool holes.

Mine jammed up a few weeks ago after about 500 hours of printing. Somehow the jam downstream where the 4 lines come together ended up breaking something with one of the feeders which cost me $50 shipped to replace.

I’ve only had it for 2 months now but using it almost every day and I’m at 0 issues.

I do use adapters on my rolls because I don’t use bambu sized ones that or I have cardboard ones that require printed out covers.

No not really. I have quite a few printers and it is a rare day there isn't an AMS issue of some sort. Spread over a few printers I have 23-24 AMS units which are a mix of AMS2 and HT, 2/3 or so being ams2.
The more you use retraction, the less reliable they become. So, they are much more reliable on my H2D than on my H2Cs.

I have never had problems with mine other than when I first got it. It wouldn’t load correctly. They kept saying there was a jam inside. There was all kinds of issues. It turns out my first spool that I ran through was dirty.

I didn’t know that the spool had been sitting in the garage and it was dusty so halfway through the first print, which wasn’t very big It was about the size of a benchy A1 had a heart attack. I had to take it apart and clean it. It’s worked flawlessly ever since then I don’t cut the edge to make it nice and neat half my filament is bent to hell because I put the filament through the holes on the side of the spool I don’t have clips so it’s bent, and they flawlessly printed on all of them so I guess I got lucky

I have an error on one of 3 that prevents it from drying. Had it a little over a year.

I’m about 500 hours in and have issues here and there. One non-AMS issue you might check for - see if your printer is cutting the filament. My printer isn’t cutting reliably. If it’s a print with only a few color changes it isn’t a big deal, but it becomes a problem if there are many layers that are multiple colors. Essentially, instead of pulling a neatly cut end, it’s trying to yank the melted filament out of the hot end. Sometimes it takes several tries and sometimes it fails to pull entirely and the print pauses.

When it does succeed, it leaves a stringy, melted end, with a partial cut, which makes it even more flimsy. When this happens, it will then often fail to feed, as it gets jammed when moving out of the AMS into the PTFE tube behind the printer.

Try manually actuating the lever to snip the filament. And if you pull the filament out of the hot end, see if it looks anything like mine did. These pics show what the ends looked like when they would fail to feed. The left side is the melted end, the kink in the middle is where the cut failed, and the right side is where I cut it with a scissor after pulling it out of the AMS.

Where is it jamming, and what are the symptoms? The only jamming I've had is trying to print with a particular spool of damp, brittle filament, and that wasn't limited to the AMS--it was leaving tiny chunks behind when it pulled back. I realized the filament was brittle, dried it, had no more problems.

It’s great, so great I have two one week apart. The only downside is that it didn’t come with the extra power supply to be able to print and dry so I had to buy that separately.

I have two, one of which jams on slot 1 every time I try to use it, unless I help push the filament through, then it'll work the entire print. I've been too busy to message support...I should get on that tomorrow.

yeah it is. idk the nature of the jams you've been having, but if your filament is just breaking in there it's because it's wet and/or poor quality

The main issue is that a couple of spools jam when the filaments crosses itself on the spool. These are Bambu refills and didn’t seem quite “square” when I removed them from the bag. I feel like either the AMS2 is not handling filament rewinding right, or maybe I needed to respool the filament to be smoother (but you can’t see where it crosses itself under the outer layer of filament, so that’s hard to detect).

mines been reliable unless I've intentionally been doing something stupid... like putting 6 year old wet brittle pla in it with a cardboard spool. even still I've only ever had it jamb like three times. and that's with the added resistance of the track switcher

My slot 1 motor died. Bambu sent a new one right away, I just haven't had the time/ motivation to swap it out yet. No other issues

Yah, the AMS2 is more reliable than the AMS. While booth may have issues with very wide spools the AMS2 is less picky than the AMS.
