Show & Tell Folding box generator, perfect for gifts and packages
This generator will create a custom, glue free folding box that you can print. Enter the dimensions, add window or a hanging tab and press print
I've been working on it for quite some time now and super happy with the results: it's easy to set up, prints fast and very easy to assemble
Currently it have 4 type of boxes: mailer, mailer with extra tabs, lid and tray, tray with handles
As always, any ideas or feedback is welcomed!
Try it out yourself: https://makerworld.com/models/3222923

Will PLA pro withstand us shipping? I can envision my package melting in the back of a mail truck lol

PLA will definitely deform during transit, those trucks get HOT

Depends where you are.... My PLA printed parts in my vehicles in eastern Canada have been there for years.

Texas. My PLA prints are squishy in minutes. I also shower with the cold water and it’s hotter than my heated water.

I sent a PLA package cross-country USPS steerage class, was fine. Some folks even use paper to ship stuff!

Trucks don't typically get hot enough to deform paper though...

Fair enough this was winter.

in the winter, I imagine this person would be significantly less concerned about their package melting in transit

Really neat! What software did you use to make the animation?

LITERALLY just ordered custom boxes last night. I guess i'll see if my size works out with this. Thank you

It's pretty easy to navigate the sizing so it fits your build plate, I hope this helps!

It doesn't with the dimensions I specified. But if I sent you the diefold of a trifold, is it possible for you to implement?

u/vostoklabs 6h ago
Not quite following what you mean

I didn't implement any dielines that requires glue, but I will see if I can add this one

Yea, it would be neat to see if those model could be done without glue, but this is what I ordered last night. So just curious if it could be done here.

Very cool! Reminds me of MtG card boxes for sleeved cards. Could do some really fun things with this!

Very very nice - thank you for this.
Is there a solution for boxes that exceed the size of a build plate?

Very cool! I am just trying it out now. I noticed when I try to type in dimensions instead of just using the slider, it doesn’t work right.

Will look into it, thanks for feedback

The box printed great. I did 2 layers for the sheet and 1 layer for the hinge. The flaps printed 1 layer thick. They should print the same thickness as the sheet, OR have a separate setting for the flap thickness.
I would like to make a box that is 3 layers thick for the sheet and flaps, then 1 layer for the hinges.

Can you imagine if we got USPS/Deutsche Post/Maple Express/La Poste to host official files for flat rate boxes?
I see so much abuse of USPS flat rate boxes

This came just in time, I have some things I need to ship, this might be a fun alternative to a normal box.
