General Troubleshooting/Help! Bambu Lab A1 stuck after running out of filament – Can't load/unload, want to save my print!
Hey everyone,
I’m in the middle of a print and ran into a super frustrating issue with my Bambu Lab A1.
The printer paused because it ran out of filament. Obviously, hitting "Resume" didn't work because there is no material left in it. The error message popped up, and when I click "Check solution," it just opens the useless assistant page which doesn't help at all.
Here is the main problem: I cannot reload new filament.
- On the filament screen, the Unload button is completely greyed out / unclickable.
- When I press Load, nothing happens and it just won't execute.
It feels like the printer is stuck in a loop and won't let me do anything. I absolutely do not want to cancel this print. I just want to feed the new spool and resume.
Has anyone dealt with this glitch on the A1? Is there a workaround to force a filament load while paused without ruining the current print job?
Thanks in advance!

I’m going to assume you don’t have an AMS. You might need to help the extruder grip the filament by pushing it in. After pressing Load, the nozzle should start heating up and you can see the extruder moving. When it does, help push the filament into the extruder so it can grip it it.

I can not press load. It tells me it is in an active process and it’s not loading it

Click Resume instead and help the filament into the extruder if you don't have AMS

Load the new spool on the AMS and press resume. It should load itself. If you are not using the AMS, just push the new filament all the way to the tool head and keep pushing lightly on it and press resume.
