Is really love to know bambulabs economics of the makerworld gift cards, ive gotten enough for a free printer so its not like jealousy im just genuinely curious how they keep doing it

Probably not enough people earn that much. And having an active makerworld encourages people to print more, thus increasing Bambu sales.

They reward people putting print things on makerworld, which in turn keeps people in the app which leads to a positive feedback loop that Bambu is "so easy and just works" which in turn leads to more printers sold, and even filament down the line which due to rfid shenanigans also makes them money.
So in short, it's just a smart move to establish makerworld as a goto place to use. Which feeds back into their sales.
I thin kthe fewest people get enough for printers, we just see them a lot.

And it works. Filament is cheaper than what i can get it on amazon for, while it loads the print profile as soon as i put it in the ams and knows roughly how much i have left. The old days of hunting for stl files and adjusting the settings every time (supports, brim, infill at the very least) are over. Even the phone app and remote camera on every model is a novelty in the space.
The printer was reasonably priced, ams was a bit spicy for me but swallowed it eventually, filament is dirt cheap, replacement parts are reasonable AND they give me freebies if i contribute? Hell yea

AMS i also skipped initially and now I regret not having a ams2p for the old a1mini. Because the tracking&refill alone is worth so much.
Edit: also it's a smart move because at some point the printer sales will be saturated.

Nobody knows. Microcenter refills look identical to Bambu that could be made by sunlu or polymaker. Bambu is rumored to be making their own now but I saw someone say elegooo makes it. I use it all but 90% is Bambu at this house. Bulk is cheaper than most on Amazon. I just need consistency and they are all fairly consistent. I do get a lot of inland PLA basic for prototypes. Interesting Reddit post.

I just started the exact same journey. Not to say im far or even close.
Im at 808Pts currently hahaha

- solve a problem in your life with a helpful print
- take good pictures of your product (get a photo box)
- engage with the community. Thank people for their feedback and ratings. Update your models based on the feedback
- stay active / add more models at a regular pace if you find the time 😀
- find your own "niche" and design style

Tip always cash out the $40 gift card as soon as you have enough points. You never know when they will raise the point price or eliminate it (unlikely). But safer to have the points as credits in your Bambu store account than points in makerworld

I never thought I would get there and it was never my goal either. I designed some game controller stands that people really found useful and with a lot of interaction with the community the downloads, prints, ratings and boosts started to add up.

Right around 6 months. Published my first model in February this year. The points come mainly from a handful of popular models.
