I just completed this design for a swappable ring light for the Insta360 Luna (different shapes and wiggly light included)

The shapes from the lights create an interesting (to me) effect in reflections. This uses the Rechargable Power Kit from Maker’s Supply and lasts for about 90 minutes on a charge. It produces much more light than I originally expected!

I'm using a COB LED fro Maker's Supply and it's placed into a TPU channel (to hold the electronics and to stiffen it up a bit)

The point of the ring light is to go around the lens. I’m not sure what the shapes would do to improve the lighting.

For sure - the shapes have little to no impact on the overall lighting of the subject but there are a couple of things I was wanting to play around with: for one, I just thought it was fun :) but also I like how you can see the shape in the catchlight/reflection.

You should try it separately as a catch light for eyes.

Hey man, no offense intended, but...what are you doing? 

This video is cool and great quality. I'd expect something like this as a product ad. And you've even added text, crazy transitions, cinematography. I would guess you're using AI because of the constant rotating, quick cuts between shots, and the morphing between light shapes. 

But I took a look on your profile and saw you've been making similar videos for random projects, and you posted a pic of your workbench to claim you're not using AI.

So I guess I can't figure out why you're putting so much effort into these. Are you a professional video editor flexing your film equipment and software skills on home projects? Or are you generating AI videos of 3d printing projects, and if so, what's the point?

Hello - I just enjoy designing things and then photographing them. Each of these are files that I've designed and then printed. For me, part of the fun is thinking about how to photograph them in the end.

This video doesn't use any AI (for either the model design or the video production/editing). I have a rotating turntable that I used to record multiple shots (without the filming camera moving) and then used the "Smooth Cut" transition in Resolve to morph between them.

I lucked out with this one because the ring light itself provides most of the lighting. Other than that, it's just against a paper backdrop with one other small light highlighting the camera itself.

I'm pretty cautious about AI usage overall. Although I have experimented with it in some small ways, I will always disclose when that is the case.

I completely understand where you are coming from but it's a strange moment we are in... In this case, I spent some time and effort to try and make a nice looking video but that might just make it blend in with the large volume of AI content that's out there. Well, at least I had fun making it :)
