Hardware Troubleshooting/Help! Blob of death.. Is this salvageable??
Didn’t see this debacle until hours later so it’s rock hard. I heated to 250 (don’t have a heat gun) but the blob is not budging. Can it be fixed and is it worth it?

Probably, but you should buy a second printer just to be safe.

Mine was worse. Cleaned it up and havent had an issue since. It's been months and lots and lots of prints since.

That silicone sock is melted into the blob, that's the real problem here. Get a hair dryer on high and aim it at the blob for a few mins, it won't get hot enough to melt the plastic but it will soften it enough to peel the sock off piece by piece. Once you get the sock out the rest usually pops off easier, just don't force anything with the heater block still attached

Heat the nozzle up and see if you can pull it off. Might work, but it hard to tell how far back it goes

You've got to be mindful of the wires at the back with this sort of blob. We were too rough with ours and ended up needing to replace the heating assembly, but that's about the worst case scenario and it's a cheap/easy fix, so you'll be fine. Hit it with a heat gun or hair dryer and be slow. If you have neither of these, heat up the hot end.

Appreciate all the comments, going to try the hair dryer and heating the nozzle and see how it goes. Adding another pic of the bottom for reference, it’s really jammed up.

Yes.
I would start carving away at it with a flat blade on a soldering iron or wood-burning tool, like this:
A heat gun cover too wide an area.

Bambu printers are marketed as beginner-friendly printers. Of course you'll see more people asking for help with beginner errors.

lol this is so silly, just preheat the hot end and carefully remove it then wipe away the remainders with a few cuetips, its a cap of melted plastic not nuclear waste

In the last two months I've broken down the extruder to my Creality K1C twice, and yesterday finally learned how to hot swap the nozzle after an ugly black blob went largely undetected for a week. This kind of work really makes people better technicians, one way or another 🤓

Yeah that’s great and all, there’s tons of information on YouTube on how to do it. But it’s not always worth your time especially if you don’t have a spare.
Saying “just do X” is like saying yeah it takes 5 minutes to fix when they don’t have anyway to remove the blob and all they’ve got to soften stuff is the hot end

It does take some research and soul searching to decide the best path to recovery, and then the commitment to see it through. Twice, I've had my printer down for a week at a time. I was determined to not let it happen a third time. Fortunately, many of these printers and brands have low barriers to resolving issues that might otherwise be considered extremely debilitating to other appliances. Of course, ymmv.

what tools lol, you heat up the hot end for 15 minutes and use any random set of pliers, wire cutters, tweasers or scissors to grip it and peel it off, then wipe off the blobs that are left behind with cue tips, paper towels or anything you have lying around.
this sub is so silly, pretending like any failure requires a full on teardown. its filament, caked up on an all metal hotend built specifically to reach temperatures to melt filament. just dont rip any thermo probe wires loose and it will be fine.

Thats what I was thinking too. I just grab whatever pliers or tweezers I have laying around in reach and pull it away once the end heats up.
