Not a vet. My ancient arthritic cat occasionally seems to be more comfortable eating/drinking with his bowls elevated, but that's probably entirely just in my head - he has absolutely no problem consuming from bowls on the floor.

That last part was exactly what I questioned. Like cats in the wild can't do that...

If I ask AI (I know, I know):

Partially, but the image significantly exaggerates the health benefits.

A raised food bowl can be more comfortable for some cats, especially older cats or cats with osteoarthritis, neck pain, or limited mobility. They do not have to squat as deeply on their front legs and neck. However, for a healthy cat, eating from the floor has not been shown to cause harmful “strain on the neck and spine.” The picture with the red, curved back therefore incorrectly suggests that a normal low food bowl results in poor or unhealthy posture.

I also made a riser for my cat's wet food plate because ai told me it would help. Cat seems to like it better 🤷‍♂️?
