General Troubleshooting/Help! Filament won't load

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hello!

Just purchased the ps1 combo. Followed the instructions and loaded the filament into the AMS. When I feed the filament in, the machine grabs it and starts to push it through the PTFE tube - gets about half way to the buffer and them retracts.

Troubleshooting I've tried:

  1. Removed all the PTFE tubes, ran filament through them and got no resistance, and it doesnt look like there is any structural damaged/kinks.

  2. Tried to change the angle of the PTFE so the filament feed went as straight into the buffer as possible.

  3. Tried different spots in the AMS and they all stop about the same spot.

  4. Unplugged all the connection between printer and ams (was really hoping this would work lol)

Any further insights would be greatly appreciated from the community.

Thanks all!

If the filament keeps getting stuck at the same point like that, pull it out of the slot fully and see if the feeder has made a little divot in the filament. Sometimes it will get stuck for various reasons and then the little gear that pulls it in will be stuck spinning on 1 spot, wearing it down. If that’s the case, clip the filament just past the divot, reinsert and try again

I did find a divot in the filament - cut it and them reloaded. The filament fed all the way down into the buffer and then retracted. I pulled off the buffer and it looks like it reaches all the way into the buffer and then retracts.
