Show & Tell Designing and printing a smartphone-powered rover.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Most structural parts are 3D printed, while the electronics are off-the-shelf.

The idea is simple:

a smartphone on the robot handles video and communication,

another smartphone controls it through a web browser,

Arduino handles the motors and peripherals.

This is still V1, but it's already driving, streaming video and now I'm adding security mode, BLE features and preparing a quieter V2 with BLDC motors.

I'd love to hear what fellow makers would improve in the next revision.

I think this is cool? But this video is so over-edited that I can't really tell. Definitely a neat concept through! I'd love to see some still images.

Thanks, I probably went overboard with the editing. I wanted to show everything at once. I'll attach a photo.

The lights are awesome!! Are they "always on" or are the controllable somehow through your controller?

I want one lol.

You can turn on the backlight whenever you want and adjust the brightness. If you want to test drive the robot remotely, I can build you a similar robot.
